Fast track violation

whoa when did they change things to require you to have your transponder in your vehicle? the fastrak site used to say explicitly that you didn't need to carry it in your vehicle. does this mean i need to get a second transponder for my bike?

They didn't change anything, actually. The CVC has had the enforcable part of having the "transponder visible for enforcment purposes" for some time. The FasTrak site was misleading. FasTrak supplied "information" isn't law.

Does it mean you need a second transponder? No, it just means you have to take it from your car when you need it to cross a toll bridge in a different vehicle. And, put it back in your car so you have it when the car that it's registered to goes across a toll bridge.

The bit about the license plate being photographed is to help them when their electronics fails to perform correctly. No intent on the states part to make it easy for you...

so did you end up with a moving violation for 23302? I just got my courtesy notice for a tic I received for 23302 which CVC clearly states is not a moving violation, however the notice reads like a moving violation with an option to go to traffic school.

Nope just paid my dues and moved on...

when are they gonna make a smaller fastrak tag?

An officer does not need to make a violation correctible if that officer believes the driver will not correct the violation or will continue to violate the law. I have run into this with lighting, window tint and equipment violations. You will need to go to court to prove your case.

In Sonoma and Marin counties, the court offers traffic school for cell phone violations. Why? I don't know. But it is not a moving violation. Contact the court clerk and ask them, if you are concerned that it may be a point. I suspect they will tell you no.

yep, have to have one on you or the CHP can wright you up on toll evasion.

i just throw a spare one in the inside pocket of my jacket and forget about it. sometimes it picks up, sometimes they photo the plate, it depends on which bridge and lane i am in. :dunno

I transfered my transponder between vehicles and got ding'd with a violation because the plates did not match the transponder....:shocker

You can add the new plate/vehicle to your current transponder and send FasTrak an email requesting that the violation be reversed and your account be charged for the toll. Unless of course the time lag between adding the new plate/vehicle is more than a day or so (like weeks).

And if the officer believes the driver will not correct the violation, what
is the purpose of marking it as not correctible? In my opinion, there is no
benefit to marking the violation as uncorrectible, except to cause stress
and anxiety in the driver/rider, and make them go to court to explain it all and thus get it corrected.

That means there was a transponder/receiver malfunction. Register all your vehicles with FasTrak

Making a violation uncorrectable is not to unduly punish people. The idea is to catch people that continually or flagrantly violate the law. Believe it or not there are a few people out there that intentionally violate the law.
