favorite coffee?

Any recommendations for a light to medium roast? I've been drinking nothing but medium dark to dark roast from Peets, Philz, Moonbeans, and Barefoot. Aeropress.

well what's the problem you already listed two of the best known or tasting brands above. :) For aeropress brew at least.
(and no, it's not Peet's .. Peet's always smells with a fake aroma to me. It's an interesting change every now and then, but all the time? hack no, I'd better have some other more natural-smelling flavors :))

for french-press I get Philz myself... for espresso I get Organic Colombian from some no name grocery store. Smells awesome.



FUCK STARBUCKS! so i pay for a tall latte, that get's me 1 shot of espresso. I then pay for a grande, which nets me two shots of espresso. HOWEVER, if i pay for a venti, I STILL ONLY GET TWO SHOTS OF ESPRESSO?!?!? WTF?!? and then you want MOAR money to give me what should've been in there to begin with?

Lol, well we know who needs LESS espresso now :) I never drank Star$ beyond from espresso or 1 latte, but I thought the point of their HugeCupOfferings is exactly to put an emphasis on the milk and the sugar.
 
also, question. wtf is up with that blue bottle coffee? is it so good that people wait 30 minutes for a damn cup?

my wife and I go to the ferry building farmers market on saturdays to get oranges and have brunch. there's always this huuge line just for blue bottle coffee. i refuse to wait that long.

I don't wait 30 minutes for it. Never. You are correct, it is not worth it. (Just as correct as a person who doesn't live in SF but drives over just to eat in one of the few forsakenish 'hoods like P.Hill, eats in an expensive hole-in-the-wall and says it's not worth it.)

But I do love it. The Blue Bottle coffee. --the aroma is just awesome.

You can get it at more than one official places with less wait, maybe 3 min on average (and the original kiosk in H.V. is more like 1 minute). And then you can get it at tons (ten?) independent cafes where they simply carry it and serve it. In the 'unofficial ones' though you have to unfortunately depend on the person currently working to make you a good cup.

All being said I don't buy it often for home b/c it's too strong , smells up the kitchen too strong and then if I drink *only* that one, my taste will get stuck to that strong stuff!!! so I just get it for home every once in a while, and outside of home every once in a while.

my happy drink = Caramel Mocha Frap with extra caramel from Starbucks. But I only allow myself one a month because they are bad for me :laughing

It's a sugar rush with a caffeine kick :teeth
 
I'm going to shame myself here... publicly.

My current favorite coffee is Starbucks Blond. Yes. It's the best light roast I've had in a long while. I do it Turkish ground with an old school stove top espresso maker. Fuckin delicious with a touch of creme.

That's some good coffee IMO. People mistakenly think that the coffee served at Starbucks is the same coffee you can buy with the Starbucks name on it. Many of the beans Starbucks sells are very good. My Ethiopian friend even said he thought the Yirgacheffe coffee beans Starbucks sells are pretty damn good.

Vega on Folsom almost never has a line. It also looks like the put in a Foosball table. :banana
 
I've got a friend who has to stop for one of these (XL size) on the way back from every pistol match. I finally tried one in Foresthill. Good lord it was awful.

your taste buds are broken :p
