First bike for my toddler

while staying on the topic - are there any local places where we can see gear for kids, 8+?

Also any dealers actually have gas powered bikes such as Honda CRF50 or Yamaha TTR50, or anything else small, so he can sit on it, before buying, i don’t like idea of buying first bike online..

Jealousy

I was in high school when the Big Wheel came onto the toy scene. Now, these little motorcycles are bringing that jealousy back to surface.

those are electric bicycles

anyways, heavily leaning towards the oset, only problem is the nearest dealer is 3 hours away :nchantr things better be reliable

Bicycles have pedals. These dont. Start with something superlight before getting something heavy like a crf50. At 4 years old, building confidence is more important then spending crazy money on a bike that may last a few years..

They had a few of these at the Sonoma races a few weeks ago. They definitely are more akin to a strider with a small motor slapped on.

i meant neither have a suspension, didn't mean it as a slight

anyone deal with 'adventure designs' in dublin before? Was gonna order that OSET bike from them since there's really no local option but wanted to make sure the company was worth a damn.

Guys i'm looking for some advice on a first bike for my boy. His 4 year birthday is coming up and i've been telling him all year he can get a motorcycle as soon as he learns how to ride a pedal bike without training wheels. Well, he's been riding without training wheels for about 6 months now :laughing so I'm pretty much obligated at this point. He's 42" tall and has a 17" inseam. The 2 bikes i have it down to are either the yami pw50 or the ttr50 (crf50 is out because it's red and blue is his color of choice as of late :laughing ). My guess is the pw50 would be easier for him to start off on but i'm scared by how quickly he might out grow it. I also don't care much for the rear brake being on the handlebars as that's one more thing that'll change when going to a larger bike.

TL;DR , is a ttr50 an acceptable bike to start off on for a 4yo or am i setting him up for failure? While he can ride a bike for probably hours without training wheels he still can't start off by himself and still doesn't understand the concept of the brake :)

thanks in advance!

PW50 should be just fine. The resale on these little bikes is excellent and you'd have to really beat it up to not get your money out of it provided you bought a nice used example.

My kid started on a CRF50 and it was slightly more advanced and larger than a PW50, but he used training wheels at first because he was a little short for the bike. I absolutely do not recommend training wheels beyond the first day or two of getting used to the controls.

Nice thing about the pw50 is that they have no bottom end, so they're not as jerky as the crf50/ttr50 4ts. Make sure to teach him the chicken-wing throttle where you don't just turn the throttle, you constantly flap your elbow up and down giving little brp brp brp pulses of throttle. It helps make the throttle connection in their brain so they don't do that confused-full-throttle-into-a-tree/car/fence/whatever.

So for anyone wondering, i skipped the oset because of the lack of dealer network in my area. I had FINALLY decided on a ttr50 (even tho pw50 was probably a better bet, he's growing like a weed tho...) and was literally on my way to the dealer when a bookface ad came across my phone for a used 2019 crf50 in my area. $1150 later i am now the owner of a crf50. Even came with training wheels. Hope he doesn't hate the color. Now to keep it hidden got 2 weeks...

Appreciate all the help and input guys. The wallet had the last say though :laughing
