first bike

my first bike is a 2001 kawasaki 500r. i have no plans of upgrading anytime soon, this bike has enough power for everything that i do... so far:teeth

My first REAL bike (not a Batpod) is a 2007 Ninja 250.
Haven't even ridden it yet, I just got it yesterday but I don't have room to park it, so it's at my parents' garage. I'm thinking this weekend is going to be spent on the road getting familiarized with her.
:-D

NOT FROM THE BAY AREA! A posting I recently made on VFRWORLD - http://vfrworld.com/forums/introductions/18403-previous-lifer-gixxers4ever-club-lmao.html anyone help? LMAO I am looking for very specific reasons and genre of the VFR (I'll tell you IF you ask) LMAO Thanks guys !

Been a racer and rider of anything and everything that has two wheels for as long as I can remember (from yesterday) too many hel-m-et slaps on the ground/trees/cars/ and other misc objects that could've and would've impaired the normal carbon species. My age and need for reliability in a bike (plus the fact that these rock) has led me to searching for a VFR to either build from the ground up for my liking (it'll be tight), or to get one already running that may need some help. THAT being said---I am in the market, and diligently searching for these specific years of VIFFER

'90-93; '98-maybe'02; '04 anyone that knows of a deal... that is workable to my local & or price range... get in touch via here or my personal email.

*** NO I don't want your porn of you and your GF/BF/TVF (LMFAO) I just want the knowledge of a VIFFER-FOR SALE-FOR REAL. Thanks guys/gals, hope to hear from someone soon***

1977 Yamaha IT 175

Old two-stroke 175 cc dirtbike. It was the original baby blue and yellow paint scheme when I bought it. After two weeks, I took the bike apart and painted all the plastics Olive Drab Green and made it look like an old Army bike. It actually turned out pretty cool looking. I LEARNED how to ride on my dad's 1999 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic, though at the age of 12. : )

My parents bought me a Honda Trail 70 when I was 10

I bought my first bike when I was 14 - a Yamaha 175 (1971) for $500

I bought my second bike when I was 17 - a Kawasaki KLR650 (which I still have).

I just bought a real bike at age 26 - a Triumph Daytona 955i.

'Ha - I had the same, mine was a '71 - gold paint scheme. only had 1,000 original miles on it. I bought it for $400 but sold it a few years later for $750. Cool little bike. :thumbup

Yah I bought mine for 600 cash(Boy, was I proud. haha) and sold it for 900. It was a fun little bike. It had enough power for me to loop it out off a "holeshot" twice.... haha

so they have posts for over 3 years on here?

my first bike was my r6 i dropped like its hot couple times cus it was my first bike and had zero expierence. them U turns got me all the time the first 2 days in trainning good thing i got frame sliders

mine was a zx6e.. its a good sport cruiser and is very forgiving.. downside= heavy... but once ur done and ready for a true sportsbike, they seem like paper wieght and is easy to flick around turns...

BEFORE YOU EVEN TOUCH A NEW BIKE WHATEVER IT IS! TAKE THE MSF. if you drop one of thoes bikes its no biggie. Then after youve done that. Go to a quiet residential neighborhood with your bike where the streets are nice and wide and not a whole lot of traffic. I bought my 08 CBR600RR... had my dad ride it home for me from the stealership. Then Parked it for a whole week, till i compleated the MSF corse. i kept it in my neighbor hood for a few days practiceing a few hours at a time a couple times a day till i felt comfortable enough to take it in traffic.

Basicly what im saying is take ur time learning. Try to be a pro in ur first week of rideing and ull most likely go down. The more expensive the bike. The bigger the repair bills.

ALSO this is where i really messed up... INSHURANCE!!! sadly my inshurance is more than my bike payment. so keep ur record clean.. and if u can wait till your 25 to get a bike. I wish I had.

+1 on taking the msf. I considered buying my bike the weekend before I was scheduled for the msf, but I'm glad I didn't. After passing, I walked away with the thought that the msf instructors probably saved the twelve lives that they taught on the range that weekend.

i started on an f3

i started on an f3 bought it for about 2800 great first bike. Though i did lay it down. Most bikes that old and cheap will be salvaged make sure you run a history check through your insurance company and make sure the bike is mechanically sound. Take somebody to look at bikes with you who knows bikes and their workings. many people will try and sell you a bike that works that day but who knows bout the next day. Good Luck Buddy. Remember PROTECTION IS KEY

haha man i just started riding a week ago with my F3. Great beginner bike (though i have no other bike to compare) but to me its really easy to ride. Enough power to get out of tight situations but not enough to get u into serious trouble unless u REALLY hammer it. Take the MSF course like every1 said. I had a blast doing it and helped my confidence too when i got onto the F3. Take it slow, breath.. and have fun :)

ADVISE HERE BRO!

im 17 and about to buy my first bike but im not sure what to get
im looking for a sportbike, probably used
and i only have about 2-3 grand to spend

does anybody have a suggestion of a good first bike that i should start looking for?

any help would be much appreciated
thanks

Well son, if you went as far as becaming a member of barf, I believe you are serious about spending that 3G's on a motorcycle, a used one is better for learning, if you are slim/light weight anything between a 125cc to 450 cc is fine, if you are medium built to heavy weight, anything between a 250cc to 500 cc is good, 600cc and above are for intermediate to advance/experienced riders. If you need to meet honest bikers that are selling good bikes, go to my motorcycle club web-site: wwwsf-mc.org and let me know when you are gonna be there to make sure I meet you for our reunions are by invitation only, and you will need to be my guest, good luck.:ride

Take the MSF, then get a 600cc , if you get anything below a 600 I bet you would want to upgrade within at least 3 months. :thumbup Get a cbr!
