Time for everyone to chill please.

If any of you hugh jassholes makes LB go down and scratches up my new FJ I'm hiring a scooter gang to come after you. They stick their legs out in turns (because gravity), they'll run you down like a rabbit and threaten you with their canvas satchels.

Hey OP, I still don't think you have enough for a novel. Bad short story with no plot, tops. Can you work in a damsel in distress angle? Menaced by angry scooterists. Or guys on dirt bikes. Your hero could ride in, chase them away, then teach her to ride with her leg out (because gravity). Kind of a karate kid. Actually the dirt bike thing happened in the Karate Kid, that's derivative. You're creative though, you'll figure something out. Hot Latina for demographic reasons, and because then she can draw our angry hero out of his shell with her crazy free spirit and salsa dancing.

Very little of it has been reasonable. Mostly it's just been a bunch of dudes screaming "PUSSYPUSSYPUSSY". But oh god is it gratifying to egg on. It also makes me feel a lot better really not liking other motorcyclists. I am, in very many ways, the Bill Hicks hate camel.

edit: I've seen scooter trash cut across four lanes of a one way street, going the wrong way, to name one occasion. That's what makes them terrifying. I breakfall for fun when I'm not wearing body armor. Some guy wearing a chamber pot helmet and gym clothes is going to go crunch whimper die though.

This is so easy. See fast bike coming, get out of way.

Why are you so worried about the bro with the brain bucket or anyone else for that matter? He wants to go faster? Who gives a shit? Let him by. Why do you feel the need to control what they are doing? You are being cautious and that's fine, but seriously, get out of the way.

I missed this, whoopsies, my bad

Even flower's don't like road blocks.

Just let other people ride their own rides. Yeah, I can see how it's inconveniencing you have to pull over to let someone get off your ass, but what else can you really control?

I tend to rage extreeeeemely hard while driving my car because I'm limited in how I can get around obstacles. On the bike, it's far more peaceful as I know I can get away from nearly any situation if needed due to my maneuverability and being able to split past things I find uncomfortable.

Okay, I am serious. OP, whether or not you have liked the style of delivery, you have received lots and lots of reasonable and accurate feedback here from experienced and accomplished riders. They have coached you on how to take control of the situation, and what outcomes you can expect. You can accept that or not. However, if you cling to the idea that you can change how other riders ride by posting your concern/outrage here, you will live a life of disappointment and unhappiness. Seriously. :nchantr

Internal locus of control versus external locus of control. One has the potential to make you happy. One can only promise to make you righteous and aggrieved. Make a choice.
He's right, OP. When a fast rider or driver comes up behind you, it is YOUR DUTY to get the fuck out of the way.

Tailgating us ALWAYS okay if some dumbass is BLOCKING THE WAY TO FREEDOM!

Welcome to BARF...where they argue about sharing on the Bay Bridge.

If you can see past the know-it-alls and the tiny penis posters, there are still some worthwhile gems to be mined. Unfortunately, the first examples have consistently driven out the last ones over the past few years. :(

Sorry, but they've become SBR...

So because you are blocking the road and refuse to move over, we must have tiny penises. Yep, that totally must be the case. Even when i didn't know shit about riding 25+ years ago I knew enough to get the fuck out of the way when a faster rider came up on me.
Let me guess, you also feel that if you are doing 70 in the fast lane that is fast enough for everyone and if they don't like it they should go around?

Skimmed this thread to see what the ruckus was...so far what I can glean is:

1. OP admits to not being the most experienced/fastest/etc rider
2. OP admits to riding with traffic or slower
3. Most motorcyclists tend to ride with traffic or a bit faster
4. OP thinks world revolves around him and lives in Berkeley (so, big surprise? :laughing)
5. 50/50 sympathy / GTFO the way here

My take: I'm a moderately quick rider. There's plenty who ride faster/more aggressive/recklessly. There's a hell of a lot more who ride slower/more cautiously/whatever. I tend to catch people when they're lane splitting. I tend to pass other bikers riding in traffic, and generally tailor my speed to the 2nd or 3rd fastest car around me. I.e., if traffic's doing 70 mph, and there's several people in the fast lane doing 75 mph, I'm probably doing 75 mph with them. If traffic's at 35 mph and there's some people doing 45 mph, I'm probably doing about 45 mph. Even so, if another biker comes up behind me, I move over.

If you're one of the people doing 35 mph when there's others doing 45 mph, I'm going to come up behind you, and pass you at first opportunity.

HERE'S THE CAVEAT: If you're all over your lane and I cannot easily predict a safe pass, I will hang off your ass until you make it blatantly clear that you acknowledge and recognize my presence and will not do something stupid like take a "racing line" within the confines of your lane curving right as I choose to execute a pass. I will flash my lights at you, maybe honk if you're being really obnoxious, rev my engine if we're splitting at 10 mph and traffic's doing 9 mph, etc.

We are all ambassadors for motorcyclists everywhere, and I tend to conduct myself as such - to other cars. To other bikes, you're regular traffic to me. Move over or speed up. It is not your job to regulate traffic, and getting in the way removes one of the biggest maneuvering advantages to riding a motorcycle - our acceleration. Yes, we can generally stop faster than cars. That doesn't help us if someone's riding MY ass and I get stuck behind YOU. Acceleration DOES help, because I can always outpace someone - and use the area between cars for extra stopping distance and a safety barrier if need be.

And +1 on what everyone else is saying about get real. A 3 second gap???? What, did you just get your license and are parroting what the DMV told you is how everyone's supposed to drive? News flash: ideal scenarios are near non-existent pretty much anywhere in the US. You will most likely not get a 3 second gap between you and anyone unless you're the one leaving it - and most people take that as an invitation to cut in front of you. Drive up to Tahoe sometime and even there you won't see 3 second gaps in near whiteout conditions. 2 seconds at most.

OP, please don't take anything in this thread to mean you're not welcome here. You absolutely are - as is anyone on 2 wheels or 3 or 4 who shares an interest in motorcycles. However, starting off with a rant against other bikers, well...you're walking into someone's home and talking shit about their dishes, furniture decorating choices, air freshener, and what kind of beer they've got in their fridge. We're a community here. Not just a sounding board for you to vent on and demand things of. Not just a place to dump stuff that isn't selling on craigslist.

Good luck. And :welcome.

I don't know. I kind of enjoyed the guy bragging about his 6" dick. He keeps it within the realm of plausibility.

You guessed wrong, loudmouth tiny-penis-person.

Leave earlier if you're in a personal hurry... :twofinger

So I'm correct, you do clog up the fast lane and expect everyone to go around. You are part of the problem as well.

OP, scrapin' boots wavin' by

EDIT: Sorry to respond to OP, ya I think people are dicks when they are on your ass but won't pass or back off. I just keep slowing down and if they can't take a hint I eventually come to a stop, put my kickstand down, slowly get off the bike and then have my buddy pull one of these:

Taking things out of context and exaggerating things said? Check.
Projecting insecurities onto others? Check.
Taking one's own opinion as fact? Check.
Passive aggressive shit talking while acting pious? Check and check.

Solid fucking gold right here.

That's been his m.o. since he joined, why would this thread be any different? He knows best, fights for the ignorant and high fives himself.
