Ford Maverick

Yeah, I really don't get the Maverick bit. Maybe only okay Boomers feel this way. I wonder if Chevy will recycle Corvair or Vega?

Maverick does indeed deserve to be included in that conversation.
I presume you meant the reference as a dig but each of those vehicles had some pretty cool editions. I had a friend with a Maverick Grabber that was fast as hell straight off the showroom and I worked with another guy that had a factory edition Cosworth Vega that. Corvair is obviously known as the Nader project but that car was well ahead of it's time and deserves more respect than it gets by non-car people. You left out Nova. That was another car that spent a lot of time as a punch-line but has an undeniable sleeper cool factor.

As a car enthusiast, I hate it when manufacturers try to apply a nostalgic name to a car that shares nothing in common with its namesake.

Dodge Neon ≠ Dodge Dart
Dodge Charger ≠ 4 door sedan
Holden Monaro ≠ Pontiac GTO (although at least it was RWD with a V8)
Chevrolet Malibu ≠ FWD sedan
Chevrolet Impala ≠ FWD sedan
micro Ford Ranger ≠ Ford Maverick
Ford Mustang ≠ a crossover SUV

I'm 100% fine with the platforms, models, new tech, etc... but please just come up with an original name for the product instead of trying to borrow from the past and ruin a good car's name.

Ford Bronco? Wonderful rendition
Dodge Challenger? Wonderful rendition

Christ..... I'm still in my 30s and I feel like a Boomer! :afm199

If it was at least an actual car, tho, not a truck...

Novas were mostly fun in Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries. I just thought they were modest cars that didn't explode or flip over.

I'm actually growing to enjoy it more and more when companies recycle their brand names like this. In large part because of the freakout from nostalgia trolls.

The Mach-E is a damn good Mustang. :thumbup Y'all Boomers gotta get with the times.

The Bronco is a fine rendition, but the Bronco Sport? Let's just call it a Bronco II, then it too is a fine rendition.

This. I really don't know why they didn't go for the obvious naming convention connection there.

They already gave us Bronco II.
It did to the Bronco name what Mustang II did to the Mustang name.

Except today, Bronco II's are prized if you can even find one in good shape. However, just like when they came out originally, no one wants a Mustang II.

They're "prized" the same way a Plymouth Horizon in good shape would be "prized". Because unicorn.
Once a shitbox, always a shitbox.

Looks more like Goose than Maverick.

Identifying strongly with product names doesn't make you a boomer, it makes you a consumer.

As an official boomer, I have to say the old Mavericks were nothing to get excited about.

Maybe not from the factory, but it was offered with a 302, which has the second largest aftermarket support after the SBC.

The 70-72 Mavericks are actually one of my favorite cars. Shades of a Datsun Z-car in styling and with a 302, the sky is the limit in terms of building HP.

This coming from the guy who's wearing his automotive bias on his sleeve...I mean username. :laughing

Yeah no, but okay. :laughing

Are you seriously trying to say the Bronco II was deserving of being attached in any way to the original Bronco legacy?
You must be 'shroomin'.
