Frank Sommerville

Frank should just to car trackdays, hit bars and enjoy life.

Uber would be good for the bars part.

So what is the point of the interview? Is Sommerville planning a comeback to the air? Is this a ratings ploy on KRON's part?

If Sommerville just wanted to get together with his friends in the industry he could do so off camera (and probably has) so there must be something more to this.

Hmmmm...
They could be trying to gauge interest in him to see if anybody would still be interested in listening to him anymore.

^ so this. Have to wonder if he's got a circle of real (or are they fake) that click and post? Same shit over and over, dude's living in a box. Hard to believe he was ever a player in bay area news- maybe he never was, I sure don't remember him.

I think he knows (knew?) people, probably around like the Dennis Richmond/Rita Williams era -- not them specifically, but people around that age who are largely winding down their careers and retiring, and so his sources are outdated.

This opinion mostly comes from me seeing him as 'old man yelling at cloud,' everything and everyone sucks and nothing is good anymore and burgers don't taste as good as they did when he was a kid.

Like a trial balloon.
I think if he laid all his cards face up on the table about what he's been through and took personal responsibility for himself he might garner enough public sympathy to mount a comeback of sorts.

Confession is good for the soul, and may make folks want to forgive him.

We'll see

I just saw a commercial about the interview. Frank looking rough and hung over answering questions from Pam. He said a quit drugs but was still able to drink. As a person that has spent his life in recovery I say bullocks. I think the Frank Sommerville era is over.

Frank's 65; time to retire.

65, no one can afford to retire that young anymore, well, maybe he can with that anchor money depending on how much he's got left after lawyers and whatnot.

Didn't the deal cause his divorce? Maybe vice- versa, but about the same time...

Not sure on the timing, but he has had some costly life events it seems, legal stuff ain't cheap.

Legal stuff? That shit's cheap compared to rehab stints....

Truth.
$20k will get you a 30 day vacation where I work (and there's no discount on the next one if you relapse) Thank goodness for insurance. :rolleyes

Hell, lawyers can run up a bigger bill for a month without breaking a sweat. :x

After reading the interview article I think he'd be better off leaving the area and look for a fresh start somewhere else.
Over a period of time in 2021 he got confused about some pills he took before going on air, confronted his bosses about a story, crashed his car while drunk and now 2 years later says he's still a "work in progress".

If he's in a DUI program as the article says he is he's already guilty... :dunno

Yup...

He pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor drunk driving count and received a sentence of 30 days in county jail, which he served via a sheriff’s work alternative program that required him to wash police cars. Prosecutors dismissed Somerville’s second misdemeanor count part of the plea deal, according to a court spokesperson. Currently he is serving three years of court probation that will end in August 2025.
