Sweet ride!

So, "less offset, moving the clamps back towards the bike...gives you more trail in the front of the bike, pushing the wheel out further"..?

Is that common core math?

Less offset moves the AXLE back towards the bike REDUCING THE TRAIL, and PULLING the wheel IN further?

Did I do that wrongly? Need more coffee...

Looks like a $15k Ultra Bee. I'll bet it's a hoot, but at some point a medium sized bike might not work with X amount of power. Stock isn't even 20hp, that thing is 30hp+? :wow

I think you did that right, but I might need coffee too!

I don't know that I'd spend much money on power if it were me, especially it it were plenty torquey/reliable/cool at super low rpm for tough rock climbs. Do you wish for more power for yours, or more accept it as is? I love the idea of an mx fork upgrade, shock too if it were possible.

Sport mode has taken some time to get used to, as the power is great.and I accept it as it is. I would like to be able to use Sport mode for a longer amount of time. I don't think I would want 30hp if it's only good for 8 minutes of riding...:laughing

I think you said you take it to Mammoth Bar sometimes? I haven't been there in years, but there's one fairly long technical climb that I think would be considered two-track in trail width, do you know the one? How does it do up that in stock form? Is it a goat?

That trail, if it's the one I think it is, was all the way at the far end of the low road that joins the parking lot. It is closed off these days. But the bike climbs well. There are options that regular bikes don't have, such as dabbing your R foot while braking, and no chance that you've picked the wrong gear. You have to learn how to climb without flailing the clutch. And lifting the front without a clutch is different.

Good riders seem to adapt quickly, and to prove that I'm not I went for an upshift yesterday! :laughing in my defense, I switch from gas to Ebike regularly and my dog level brain doesn't switch 100% every time.

I think you're right, that it's the last turnoff from the main access road. Bummer that it's closed, it was lots of fun.

That's funny, trying to bang nonexistent gears whenever you want to go faster. :laughing

I agree, this bike is so light it doesn't need that much power (similar to Stark's 80hp of unusable power). I took mine out this morning for its first real ride since receiving it last week and the bike has just enough power in D mode for about 90% of the single track climbs I was riding. At one point I did a 25% grade rock bolder field and the mellow power/torque and light bike never really lost traction. I've ridden the same bolder field many times on my 500exc and it spins up no matter how much I tractor it.

I just want a bigger battery. I'm a clydesdale so after today's ride I expect to get 20 miles before I hit 20% on the battery. This sucks cuz most my day rides are 40ish. I'll save my pennies for that 72V/76Ah battery and a respring/valve on the suspension and that's it. This bike rips as is!!

It's funny the Ultra Bee gets similar range to a Light Bee even thought it's battery is twice the size. Its similar to my Redshift SM also that thing guzzles electrons. Light Bee only has like a 2kwh battery Redshift has a 6kwh so it's consuming 3x the power the Light Bee does.

That bike is sick, definitely over $15k into that one. I'm building my own right now. Lots of parts on the way, can't wait.

I'm using those guys to upgrade my UB suspension. I'm going with the EXT REA rear...but no WP fronts for me...I went with their complete factory tuned stock fronts (racetech).

A bigger battery is next. There are more higher cap batteries coming out apparently. I know that these ECR guys and others are saying they are testing some...

Can't wait to get this setup properly for my size/weight and get some real riding in.

I'd be lying if I said I'm not tempted to start throwing money at my UB, but I'm going to resist as long as I can.

I just got back from Marysville EStreet MX. It seems like I'm starting to figure out the best way to keep the bike charged enough to ride as much as I want. Today I charged after every ride and came home with 45 %. I used Daily mode for the 1st 4 rides, then went to Sport mode for the last few.

There was a particular table top that I kept flat landing. It was a bit harsh on my old bones and made me wonder about suspension upgrades. And then I pulled back and said to myself "one jump doesn't validate thousands of dollars"

Who am I kidding...of course it does!!!:laughing

Can't believe you took the UB to E St.! It is, or at least was, where fast locals used to go, so you really had to be on your toes. It was fun, but more of an intense fun.

There are two tracks, I stick to the less "60ft doubles" one. The big boy track is too much for both me and the UB. But yes, there are some really fast guys out there! My plan is to work my way over to the other track.

Of course it does! LOL.

Sadly, I can't resist throwing money at making any of my vehicles "right". On two wheels (especially risking my old bones), suspension being the most important.

The money I'm throwing at suspension is half the darn cost of what I just paid for my used UB. Painful, but it's going to make the experience so much better. Hopefully I can get some $$ out of selling my stock stuff (if there is any market for it).

The longer range battery will bring me to more money in mods than what I paid for the bike but hey, it'll be(e) a keeper then. If I ever want more power, I'm a motor and controller away at that point...

I'm not MX tracking this thing like you other studs -- I'm more into longer single track rides. The extra battery will be very welcomed then. :ride

I've only been out a few times so far (1hr/ea) but for the rocky mt single track I've been riding the suspension it's that bad after setting the sag. I would describe it as plush but not wallowing, damping does fine. I picked up a heavier rear spring for my weight but the shock is actually pretty stiff in stock form. Jury is still out and will need some proper dirt rides after the snow melts to really tell.

I rode a few times then greased all the linkage, axles, etc. The suspension broke in, and those things helped. Everything was dry. The lack stiction was noticable.

Oh...and the original owner put on a fancy o-ring chain. I took that off too. 1% here and there adds up to a better bike.

Good tip on the linkage, I'll take a look. I changed to a roller chain after hearing guys get improved range. Also used Ti bolts and lighter tubes/tires (at least compared to what came stock). I saved about 2 lbs on the rear wheel assembly.
