Gentleman's Dapper Clothing Thread

That's funny. It started out in the northern UK as "grotty" (with a hard "t") in the 50's and 60's. Came to the US in the 80's but became grody because we don't use the hard "t" here. Then evolved into "grody to the max" in the 80's and ended up back in the UK as "growdy" among teens in the early 90's - much to the chagrin of their parents.

I can assure you "Grody" was here in the states by the late 60's...
That is allI have to offer as I have NO style these days now that I am retired and live on the top of a mountain.:)

I used to have a subscription. Stopped reading when the “style” started becoming all this super slim fit everywhere, no socks with trousers cut 1” above the ankle.

I read somewhere they cut the trousers short in magazines just so you can see the socks.

Whatever the reason they do it, I do not like it. And I know folks use their socks to show a bit of flair or whatever, but I think when you’re wearing a nice suit, socks should like underwear and not distract from the suit.

Besides people should be looking at your face when you’re speaking to them and not staring down and wondering why you’re wearing floods.

For those wanting some casual non-jean pants I tried some Rhone commuter pants, I got the 5 pocket full price and just ordered another pair in the standard fit in Olive for $69

They're comfortable and seem durable. I really miss the casual cotton pants from Betabrand but they only do women's clothing now.

When I see my tailor again I'd probably get him to make me a couple of pairs of cotton casual pants.

Finally, I took my Harry Rosen cashmere overcoat my dad got me like 15-17 years ago to be re-lined, the silk lining has needed replacement for a while, but I forgot and when I put it on not only was the lining f'd, but it was dirty, and missing and button....I shit you not $380 to re-line it in silk from Diaz Brothers SF (Lining is $150 with no work).

How many of you fashion forward guys, wear a romper?

They look awful and I challenge their fashionable nature at this time. I heard about this trend for some men years ago I’m sure nobody is wearing them now.

Most of my female friends don't even like rompers. They're a complete hassle to deal with anytime you have to go to the bathroom.

I mean, rompers sound like kind of hassle as some of my cosplay outfits. And the only reason I can manage with those is because my left shoulder is double jointed and I can reach high enough behind my back that I don't need anyone's help to unzip me.

I always thought rompers were for babies and toddlers. Never struck me as something an adult would consider wearing.
