Was there a #46 or #93 on his CHP bike?
Let's dig deeper: Is there a #13 on your bike and did he have a #5?

Maybe it's catch-and-release season with the fishermen around here?

Hi Folks,
I was splitting (faster than I should have been) along 880S in some unusually heavy traffic during lunch time today. As I got out of the traffic I heard some sirens and horns behind me. Presuming an ambulance, I pulled from 1/2 split to #2 lane, and saw in my mirror a CHP bike. I pulled over to the right of #2 lane to let him pass. At this point, I look in my mirror and he isn't behind me anymore. "Good" I think to myself. Though I look ahead of me and don't see anyone... I turn left and see this CHP DIRECTLY next to me on the left. Our legs are touching. He leans over, grabs my arm, and proceeds to yell at me (which I'll admit I did deserve).
Keep in mind while this is all happening, we are travelling, locked together, at 50mph through some reasonably heavy traffic.
I gave him the thumbs up, he released me and proceeded down the road as I exited. I didn't get a ticket, since I was not breaking the law (I was only being dumb).
Anybody had an experience like this before?

I was going to quote other posts, but this is the heart-throb. I always thought it would be you to touch a stranger while splitting. I see that I was mislead. What kind of conversation does one have at 50mph?
And who takes his throttle/brake hand off their bike to touch a stranger?

Great story, and I believe it. When you made this decision I knew it was true, and I knew I was right about you, a long, long time ago...... but I also could have slapped his handlebars. His hand was off the bars and if I hit it hard, he would have gone straight to the pavement........
I gave him the thumbs up, he released me and...
One time during a bicycle race, I was riding a tad, uh aggressively, but no contact.
I was at the front of the pack and another rider came along side of me. It was a teammate of another rider who I had slammed the door on during a corner.
He started leaning on me with his shoulder, and I was little surprised but like, I can handle this. I moved over but he kept leaning.
When I was about 5 feet from the curb, now I was like, this is going to stop, so I started leaning back. The rider then started hitting me with his fist.
I had my elbow up in defense, but I also could have slapped his handlebars. His hand was off the bars and if I hit it hard, he would have gone straight to the pavement.
But I made a quick calculation that I have lots of friends in the pack behind us, so I better not crash a rider, even one fucking with me. My hands never left my bars and I felt in control the whole time.
This was all at 25mph on a closed course. Now I will, ahem make casual contact with bike commuters. Light hip pushes or a friendly shoulder tap. I know it will freak out the noobs without affecting their steering. I could never imagine touching another motorcyclist at any speed.
PS after the race, I did walk over to the pushing rider's pit to talk to him. He denied everything.
Regardless of your *aggressive nature, this is a situation of at worst obese cyclists on heavy steel bikes moving less than 30mph. The risk of death in a crash is significantly less than say on 101 with vehicles >2 tons >60mph.
*I guess it's great to hear another anecdote of you being a badass.
This is definitely one of the weirder stories I've heard in a while.

The CHP was being kind - he could always have issued a ticket for reckless driving.
