Greenpeace "Protest Pod" dropped off at Apple

screw those GreenPeas people and their scrawny naked chicks covered with lettuce!
How dare they stay between my cheesy puffs and my computer connected to the cloud!

How *dare* those people protest *anything*? On top of all it's a company I even use!!! :mad

Pics..? :teeth

Those Greenpeace people are so out of touch with reality that their whole message gets lost in the idiocy of their actions. Same with PETA.

i'm a little chilly at work this morning and could use a little flaming.
That's an interesting article. Did anyone read it (the link about Watson), and if so, what did you comprehend out of it?
Furthermore, has anyone watched the Sharkwater documentary from 2002? if so, what did you think?

I watched "The Cove" a while ago and that led me to Sharkwater, both very interesting films.

Why protest the iCloud...of smoke? :laughing

:laughing Has to be the biggest clown to sail the 7 seas.

My buddy works on a tug boat in the Bay, and he used to work on a crab boat in Alaska for a few seasons when he was younger. He went to some charity gig in the City a few years back and met the dear old captain who tried to recruit him to work on his ship after finding out his experience.

My buddy basically told him to go pound sand. I think he even called him a 'fucking pirate' to his face. :teeth

Did anyone else think of the Ol' Maiden when you read about Pods? *sigh* I miss him and his hilarious stories.

"whatever the fuck that means"?

so i looked it up because i was curious.

from greenpeace website;
"The cloud—the place where our e-mails, pictures and music are stored and shared—is growing fast.

The engines that drive the cloud are data centres. Some data centres are so big they can be seen from space. They use a huge amount of electricity – the equivalent of almost 250,000 homes.

Right now, companies like Apple, Microsoft and Amazon power the cloud with coal, which means more air pollution and more climate changing emissions.

It doesn't have to be this way. Together we can push IT leaders toward clean, green, renewable energy sources. The more we upload our photos and files to the cloud, the more important it is to make sure it’s powered with renewable energy."

so, in a nutshell, it makes sense. no?

Yeah, datacenters are terrible.

I read all about it on these websites:
