Honda Ridgeline unveiled next month

I thought they discontinued this line completely. A surprise.

It's weird but Honda has never managed to make the vehicle remotely attractive. Those who like them are buying them for their qualities, not the looks. Very clunky and odd.

That is weird, looks arean't subjective at all :rolleyes . I don't care for it personally, but I'm sure that some people buy because the like the way they look. I think we've already determined it lacks the qualities of most other truck so that leaves aesthetics, image, brand loyalty, etc.

That was the problem with the previous Ridgeline, it had a pricetag too high. When you can get an F-150 for similar price...the F-150 will fly off the lot while Ridgelines won't.

If you're short on cash for the next payment you can always rip a piece off and drop it off with your aluminum can recycling :rofl

On a side note I have heard that GM will be going aluminum soon too.

I know what you mean, but I WANT to like the thing, but there is some kind of somewhat objective impression a vehicle makes, hence the magazines, the awards, etc. I just think its more clunky than most, or has been. I sat and stared at one for a while, trying to figure out what the deal with it was. I just don't think the current Honda braintrust has a pickup in them, in terms of design. The comparable trucks, the Avalanche and the Cadillac version also give off an oddish vibe but have better lines.

The Ridgeline is basically a front wheel drive SUV that goes into 4-wheel drive when necessary, and happens to have a truck bed out back instead of a roofed-in SUV cargo area. Underneath that truck bed is a storage compartment.

There is no other truck like this. So you might say, other truck's lack the Ridgeline's qualities. :p

Super Bowl advert with the Ridgeline is coming:

I think more trucks on the Sport/Activity side of the spectrum would sell in the US, like the Aussie Ranger:

Or the VW Amorak:

... and even FIAT is working on one. the Toro:

Think of it more like a Pilot that gets all your stuff in the back wet when it rains.

Hahahaha!

Not being a "real" truck is the whole attraction of the Ridgeline! A daily driver Honda that rides smoooooth because it's an SUV chassis, not a bouncy-castle body-on-frame truck. Stick a motorcycle or two in the back...done.

Yeah, but it's like the answer to the question no one asked. Half ton pickups already tow near 10K pounds and get over 20MPG (on gas engines). This one won't do any better on MPG. Plus, modern pickups ride as good as cars, these days. I don't get the attraction to a Honda truck. A Honda Accord...I totally get that (the new ones are good looking cars). A Honda truck? Sorry...not there.

I dunno if they think the U.S. market is worth the bother as the full-size trucks from the big three have a stranglehold on the market here, and the Tacoma owns the light truck market with the Colorado selling well too. Bringing some overseas-style truck here sounds like a money-losing prospect.

The Ridgeline is designed in America, built in America, so maybe this new design will have more mass appeal than the first generation.

Last month they still sold 518 of new Ridgelines that had been hiding at dealerships...I wonder if the new owners got a screaming good deal since that model was already discontinued, and the new model is arriving next year? Hmm...if they knock $10k off the MSRP I might buy a leftover, if any are left. :p

They've been hiding them behind the unsold Crosstours....

This thread makes me LOL. 99% of the "trucks" I see EVERYDAY have nothing in the bed and nothing behind them. But what do I know? :)

Exactly! A Honda Accord that can haul your bike to the track, with safer front wheel drive, and a large storage area under the cargo bed. Isn't is genius?

Plenty of people have no need for heavy towing, no need to carry 8,000 lbs of gravel....hey wait, that describes 90% of the U.S. population. :x

Had to look that one up, apparently in 2009 when the Crosstour was rumored/introduced, some Honda employee named Eddie got himself in a shitload of hot water by responding to Facebook posts about the Crosstour. :laughing

Very poor seller, and it looks different. I like it already. :p

99% of the Teslas I see on the road are driven pretty conservative, even though there's plenty of marketing that says how stupidly quick they are 0-60.

99% of every obnoxiously lifted truck on the road rolls over nothing bigger than the curb at the gym even though they could handle much more treacherous obstacles.

99% of the time, my five seat sedan carries nothing more than just me.

See what I'm getting at here?
