Hooligan Stuffs

The O2 sensor eliminators completely removed the hunting/snatchy throttle on my SD... and nothing else done.

Thanks for the feedback. Not going to disable the O2s, even though I have the KTM TuneECU cable.

Maybe in the distant future if I even want to be fucking with the airbox. Runs good enough for now.

That bike screams to be exercised on two different roads I ride, No moving violations found there...
But I don't want to broadcast on the internet, these roads..We all know what happened at a place in Tenn.
that is now called The Tail of The Dragon.

We got a trip planned to the mariposa county fair for the derby. Hittin the lil dragon on the way. Your welcomed to come.

Thanks for the invite alcoHK, I live so close, I spank that Dragon :laughing

But...I'll pass, People will be on the road...Not a big fan of people on the road.

Wish I could be there to meet ya, though...that whole Dragon area around Coulterville is twistie sweet.

Duh, you ride a 990, don't you? :thumbup

Butterflies run $30, another thing people say works reasonably well is the G2 400cam throttle tamer. I plan on tracking this thing, so might end up doing that as well.

So your bike came with secondaries and you installed larger diameter plates, right?

It's funny, cause theres a bunch of RC8 guys that remove the secondaries altogether, and claim that their bike runs stronger, and that the secs caused problems. I always figured those guys were full of shit.

BTW-the G2 400 gives LESS fine throttle control than the KTM progressive "orange" throttle tube. I tried installing the G2, compared the cam profiles, and then after talking with the techs over there, I sent it back for a refund.

If you have the linear tube on your bike now, you should definitely look into getting the KTM 5209 tube.

PCV and a proper tune will get rid of it. Or any system that lets you do all the fueling.

Yup.

No. The ones you see close the passage entirely, those are the OEM ones. I installed the leaner ones you see within the assembly.

I hear the same stuff, but there is a certain bog associated with doing that.

I'm actually pretty happy with how the bike responds to the throttle now. No more fucking with it is necessary.

If I ever fork over the cash for the expensive intakes, I will make sure to remove the PCV and have a tuner refuel the system. But I doubt I will ever replace the exhausts, I hate loud bikes. Plus the OEM units will never burn out, they use metal baffling and that's why they weigh a metric shitton.

Next up is a slipper clutch, all other mods are bullshit in comparison.

Dude, that was my biggest doubt, will the power and the weight stop me from having that kind of fun?

The answer is a resounding no. Thankfully, because it was somewhat of a gamble.

While the throttle body mode helped smooth things over, I went ahead and did the cheap-tamper mod found here: http://www.ktmsmt.com/viewtopic.php?t=3067

Won't be able to testride today, but will report back soon. Takes a grand total of ten minutes, really simple. The annoying part is cleaning off throttle cable/tube grease.

EDIT: If this won't work out, next step is the aforementioned 5209 tube from KTM.

that girl is cute and a good rider

ohh noo what a dumb girl

The throttle tube mod helped things further! Big help in cornering confidence, but still takes a very steady hand to go from positive to negative engine load at small throttle openings.

I guess that just the big twin torque way of life.
