How my friend is going to blow himself up...

you gots some strange buddies there Oz

I made a bong too back when I was in the 8th grade, but I didn't mount it on my motorcycle handlebars :twofinger :rofl

anyway what about the WATER MOISTURE that develops whenever you burn hydrogen and oxygen?: you are making water, I did this for my 3rd grade science fair, and won 1st place!

This happens when you do meth. You get such amazingly awesome ideas.....

This is fricken funny. Oh, hold on ,I need to switch on my 911 scanner. Ok, now just sit back and wait.

lol I <3 BARF,

When he blows up or gets raped in prison for bringing a bomb onto a military installation, I will update and provide pics (of course).

The term "friend" used in the above thread can also be loosely translated as "a dude or crazy bastard that I know" :laughing

Oz

I found the spammy videos on Youtube that got him started. If it happened on youtube it haz to be true. Anyway a lawnmower and a HD have about the same engine right?

Here is another vid explaining the whole process. The dude mysteriously died. Conspiracy of course:

Don't get me wrong though, I am not trying to defend the Hydrogen Bike Jihadist. I too think he is absolutely fukn looney. :rolleyes

It is a votage meter (I don't know what it is called exactly).

The Hydrogen bomb 2.0 is going to have a dial that will help him manage how much juice he is drawing off of the battery. The more juice, the more bubbles. His goal is to have a fully hydro-genated system, without blowing up of course. He has also talked about loading up two saddle bags with mason jars so he can produce MOAR!

I think he needs a self destruct button just in case the commies come to steal his secrets, then he can blow his shit up!

:laughing:laughing:laughing

The saddlebags thing seem kinda rad though!

so, while he's at it.... is he also gonna invent the "perpetuum Mobile" to power his bike?

Besides the fact that this is stupid, because:
1) he's gonna get shot before he can even get off the bike and explain himself at a military base. (can you say "IED"!)

2) the very very small ammounts of hydrogen wont even be notiveable to the large ammounts of air his engine draws....
.... keep in mind: Liter engine at 5000 rpm draws: 1 * 5000 / 2 = 2500 liter per minute ~ 5200 galon of Air per Minute. how many galons / minute does his contraption produce? maybe 0.01 gal / minute?

now for the real reason why thsi wont work:

1) The separation of Water into 2 Hydrogen molecules and 1 Oxygen molecule consumes Energy.
2) The "burning" of Hydrogen and Oxygen releases Energy.

the energy created in step 2 is always (equal or) less than the energy consumed in step 1.

In the case of "equal", you would assume a 100% efficiency, which is in the real world never possible.

if the energy in step 2 would be LARGER than the energy consumed in step 1, you would be CREATING energy, which is not possible in "traditional" physics.

Now, for practical terms:

How does he generate the electricity for powering the electrolysis?
Likely from the "generator", or "Stator", which is engine driven.

The engine needs to work harder to generate this "extra" electricity. Similar to e.g. your gas mileage going down when you turn on the AC.

since your engine has a ~60% efficiency, and the generator another ~80%, lets say: For every ammount of hydrogen energy created (measured in Joules), you need to burn twice as much energy in gasoline.

If you now burn this energy again and free up this energy - then you've still effectively wasted gasoline.

so - from a physics point of view.... an all around stupid idea.

Your math is so bad and your science isn't much better, but, your conclusion
is correct. The theory is you are using excess electricity to split those
water molecules. It really doesn't take any extra energy from the motor.
Unfortunately, it doesn't provide anywhere near the small amount of hydrogen you used in your calculation.
IMHO, he is just trying to use the water that is the result of hydrogen combustion to clean out his headers and exhaust system.
Now, if you can show us all how you changed those liters into gallons above,
we will all start getting 200mpg.:rofl

Correct me if I'm wrong, but without extra oxygen isn't it not going to burn right anyways? If his logic of adding more fuel creates more power, then wouldn't it be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier to just adjust the carbs to run richer? Its easy to squirt fuel into an engine, the hard part is getting enough oxygen

That HD stands for Harley Diesel. Diesel engines always have more
oxygen than they need.:party

:rofl I just want to thank OzDesigns and ST Guy for cheering me up. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a while. Cover it with a towel, onto a military base?:rofl

Great thread! I love "Tweaker engineering"

This one is slightly misguided but sometimes tweakers have good ideas. It's too bad tweakers are so fucking annoying, I'd hire a 100 of them to build me a VW motorcycle trike.. out of garbage cans and lawnmower engines.

hey, what's an order of magnitude between friends.

you wouldnt want me to actually THINK when i post on barf, right?

Power is not free. Therefore, if his contraption uses electricity, then it either comes from the charging system of the bike and therefore puts an additional load on the engine, using up more fuel. Or, it comes exclusively from the battery, in which case it will need to be recharged in some manner.

Since he's likely powering it from the bikes electrical system as a whole, then it is creating an additional load on the system and assuming that the system will maintain the battery at a certain level of charge, his contraption is, indeed, drawing a bit of power from the engine and using a bit more fuel. Granted, since he's generating a miniscule amount of hydrogen, he's loading the motor and using more fuel in the same miniscule manner.

What's amazing is that these kinds of "gadgets" have been around for decades and they continue to survive. People are just plain gullible. Oh well.

Has he ever dabbled in time travel?
