I tried them all for years and years and always had problems with them. They would work their way out (cough, sneeze, yawn, etc.). I got some annoying ear irritaions that made my inner ear itch. Also the attenuation was either not even or not good enough. I eventually went to silicone plugs like swimmers use and these were great but non-washable. If you drop one, you gotta toss it since it picks up grit.
I finally got a pair of custom plugs made at the motorcycle show in San Mateo a few years ago. Fabulous, comfortable, they stay in with no expansion pressure like the twist-a-foam plugs have and the most perfect noise attenuation I've ever experienced. Not total attenuation, just repeatable and excellent.
Oh, and they are red to match my FJR.
