Ktm 890r

Well I bought one a few months back and have 5k miles on it now. Absolutely Love it! You can't go wrong! Just did 1,600 mile camp trip and love it even more!
It is awesome in the twisties, good in the dirt (for a big bike) and love the cruse control for those times you have to go far and fast!

GET IT!!! you won't regret it!

My 2020 790R is the best bike I've ever owned. I do a lot of off road riding on it, but love it on the street too.

Buy the 890R. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!

:cool

17+ Tuono

08+ R6 dedicated track bike
13+ zx6r dedicated track bike

r7??

imma flip my 2012 tuono v4, and buy something newer, i cant believe that bike is almost 10 years old

I'm assuming this thread about the Duke R (as opposed to the adv) given the other options, yes?

Mine shows up tomorrow, pretty stoked. Immediately gonna rip the motor out of it and put it in a turismo veloce.

THIS

every damn review is like OMGAWD IVE RIDDEN FOR 50 bazilllion years and over 10 trillion miles and owned 1000's of bikes

but this bike is da SHIZNIT - right out of the box :wow

then I hear it personally from my friend who has one as well and well.... that guy can riiiiiide - and I told him if the mfg wasnt KTM and some Jap brand - it would be in my garage already :ride

Being on BARF I never read any blanket KTM reliability horror stories though there were some issues with the 390 when first released.

Actually, if the adventure shares the same feedback/reviews as the track one then I would be interested.

I would like to go back to track and am already familiar with the way the local tracks turn hence the track focused bike wishlist.

But I'm also ready to start multi day adventure touring

I have a 2020 790 Adv R, best all around bike and amazing "heavy" dirt bike I've ridden. I don't know your riding habits, but it's really made to go on dirt, a lot;0). I rode it from AZ to CA and back, no issues with touring, except the windscreen is useless in the high position and makes buffeting worse. Not sure about the 890, but I'd definitely adjust the suspension closer to the soft side, see manual, it's set up to go full throttle in the dirt and on road stock or ready to race if you will. If you stand, the rear will kick up a lot on dirt. Amazing bike and imo should only be reviewed or compared to a Tenere 700, otherwise it has no competition.

I’d go 890. The newer Tuonos aren’t that much different, get something different. And if you miss you old Tuono, anytime you want, we can swap bikes (19 Tuono Factory). :p

A lot of my thoughts on my 890R in this thread. It IS the most enjoyable bike (off the showroom floor) I've ever ridden. I also agree with many of the comparo reviews that say it's more than the sum of its parts.

I echo a lot of the sentiment about KTM reliability (blew my 701 motor 2x despite doing services at half intervals). If Yamaha (my favorite brand based on reliability, price, and mfgr support) made the 890R I'd have probably scooped up an 890 Adventure already as well!

I highly recommend doing the steering stabilizer oil upgrade if you get it though. I went down from a tankslapper on hwy 80 last year after hitting a pothole just right. I truly believe I'd have saved it if the stabilizer had a good chunk more bite.... you can barely tell its on there if you sit on the bike and turn the bars lock-to-lock as fast as you can.

The wear at the edge of your tires just booms me. I know you're a track rider. Doesn't matter. Total happiness at tires looking like that.

This bike is nuts, absolutely nuts. I don't think I will miss litrebike power anymore at all, this thing pulls/revs so fast 60-120mph.

This is my first twin, and I've always hated twins when riding them cuz they vibrate like crazy, idgaf this bike has so much character I now own a twin haha

I agree. I smile a LOT when I ride, but I have NEVER smiled more than I smile when I ride this machine. :):):):):teeth:teeth:teeth

Glad you like it buddy:thumbup. I'll finally have some elbow room in my garage now!:laughing

I have the 2021 Duke 890R. Bought it new. Absolutely love it. The only thing that surprised me about it was how quick it is. I was thinking "Oh, mellow parallel twin. Perfect for a guy my age". Wrong!! This bike will get there and get there quick if you ask it to. KTM's Track Pack and Quick Shift work perfectly. Suspension feels solid. Brakes are right there. 2 thumbs up!!

Yep, and never having had a bike with TCS before, I really enjoy being able to change the character of the bike with the push of a button. I occasionally put it in rain mode when I feel like cruising casually, comfortably. It's so docile in that mode as to be almost lethargic... but it wakes up nicely past 1/2 throttle. I like street mode for commuting - responsive but tame. I usually skip Sport mode for Track mode - for playing, it's a pretty huge difference - instant grunt at nearly every RPM.
