Learn How To Panic Stop

It doesn't appear that he ever had his fingers on the front brake lever. The red arrow points to his front brake at the time of the hit. His fingers are not on it. If you look closely at the slow motion footage of him right before he hits, it appears he wasn't doing anything except locking up the rear.

wow, I was clueless as a youngster, but never that clueless. reminds me of the days when I took the MSF decades ago. Half could ride and half could not. The ones that could ride nabbed the NX250s (yes that long ago) and Fatcats (those fat tired bikes). All others got the cruiser Rebel style bikes. We did brake stands and wheelies while the non-riders learned to ride. Good times. Some of the dip shits I took it with got baked at lunch prior to the classroom training. Everyone still passed. I expect it's a little better in modern times.

I'm just marveling at how long the bike took to fall over...

Bikes usually never fall down by themselves. It's usually us that is their demise :laughing

this has been gone over abunch already,

with the crackdown they are having this year on muhollands snake, they have reported getting alot of extra attention with mickeymouse there shooting video like every day.

leo is ticketing anything and everything to get them away and to decrease the traffic due to the exposure of the known video camera that is recording around that turn.

i blame mickeymouse for making that area more of a "showoff - lookat me - take my picture - video" where i am bound to be distracted and BAAAAAAAAAAAAAM - nice wakeup call

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that bad things only happen to the other guy. You never know what you'll encounter out there. Stay sharp, expect the unexpected and take the time to practice panic braking drills in an empty parking lot someplace. When you need to stop right now, it's best to know how to do it without hesitation.

Absolutely...:thumbup

Just last Tues. I had 3 separate event's in that one day, where an oncoming car (because of dippy road and blind turn's we didn't see each other till on top of each other)..Put me right to the last inches of useable space.

The main item was not over braking, on a sketchy surfaced and rough road, and broken edge..
isn't like it's straight...And...while braking at that threshold, turning to get to that edge.

I need these events to force me to do this thing..to stay sharp.
And know I can do it, in that crisis...There was a time when I couldn't.

man that was a clean bumper removal, wonder if the rider works in an auto body shop.
