Let's talk about shaving....

You can get cheaper than that if you want, or more fancy, but I'm lazy and I just wanted to look for shit you can buy on amazon.

I just looked up mine and it's a 1975 gillette black beauty. They go for 50 bucks, and have 9 different settings. Im not man enough to go past 5 tho.

Tempted to try these out. I've always been partial to the regular Mach 3. I usually get 5-8 shaves out of a blade. Depends how cheap I'm being and what kind of pain I want to endure. :laughing

How bad do these clog?
Which blades are the best?

I think I'll try out those Dorco next time I need to reload. Always shaved with Gillette Fusion, each new cartridge style gets more and more expensive, but they do get better. I always just buy the bulk pack from Costco.

Curious what your shaving styles are? Do you shave with the grain or against the grain? I've only ever shaved against the grain, shaves right down to the skin baby smooth, and I shave every other day. Seems like most people shave with the grain which I don't know how or why since I can't seem to get the hair off that way.

Well I'm not switching until someone makes one that goes to 11. :x

This one goes to 11. Weck shavette, my daily driver:

Replacement blades are about 50 cents, so it costs a little more than DE shaving, but still much much cheaper than cartridge razors. No irritation, and one pass with the grain is all it takes for a great shave.

if going with a safety razor, buy as few blades as possible until you find one you like. bought a fuck ton of a blade that escapes my name because of how cheap they are and i hate it (blade, not razor).

+1

I think they sell variety packs of blades so you can choose what you like.

I wouldn't go too cheap on the handle, though. I bought a really shitty one for like $10 on amazon and hated it. I kept cutting myself and actually stopped using it because it was so terrible. I decided to give it another shot and bought a Merkur 34C handle and the difference was night and day.

Going too cheap might put you off on safety razors in the first place. Get something with some weight on it. It makes shaving much easier.

I thought all saftey razors were adjustable.. maybe that's why I can get away with what ever Walgreens has for blades which is usually only one choice.

Shick Hydro works for about 2-3 weeks each. Cheap in the long run. Costco has a pack with refills for a reasonable price.

I wish I was one of you guys who can't grow a beard or grow slowly. I do not like facial hair and have to clean shave it every other day. 5 days out and I'll feel like there's a beaver living on my face.

Use a safety razor, they said. It's more healthy for your skin, I read.
