*Liam's Wild Ride*

From Barcelona, With Love

Obviously I don't believe in using the rear brake to get set-up for a corner, :laughing I'd much rather crash on the gas!

And Mykr, go for it!

Lil Los, thank you. To be honest, that int. is a little incomplete because Chris edited out a couple items, and we also didn't manage to get everything in that I wanted, like the full set of names of people and places I wanted to thank (it's quite long).

Now then . . . . . here's a really interesting photo. What can you guys tell me about this engine? There are enough cool things happening here, and I'm sure we'll see them trickle down to streetbikes soon. . . . .

That is really weird looking. Are they using distributors or are those just coils? And where's the freaking gearbox? Hm...

I don't see any spark plug holes either. Is this a diesel??

Lonster

Now that's funky, looks like a cam position sensor on the LH side, a central mounted/piggyback cam drive... wtf is the carbon fiber box with all the (data acq? ECU?) leads?

haha....me and another barfer were part of the Mechanics' Training Program at Jim Russell, ummmmm,.......many, many years ago when they were still at Laguna.....you'll have fun, I ended up being hired on and stayed for a while after our 'stint' was over....

:thumbup
I was really impressed w/the program and w/the influx of money that Infineon is now putting into it, I think it'll be even better. :)

If I go, I'm planning on staying out in the bay area because I've always wanted to live there. Shoulda moved there years ago. :confused

I'd most likely live in SF w/a couple of friends and do the commute (I'm used to long commutes living in Chicago.) It'd give me an excuse to find a beater dual sport or something to ride up there. :teeth

That is drop dead beautiful, I could have it on a stand in my house and stare at it all day, too bad i'll never get too!

Sears is one of the best driver's tracks in the country, just still not terribly friendly to mistakes, you get a lot of intruction when you drive and will be around racing/racers 24/7, so you can't help but learn a ton and have a great time.....it was really a great time for me and I'm sure it's the same for most other peeps

hate to threadjack the liammeister thread, but doood, I really recommend not living in SF if you're going to work at the track....try to go during a race weekend before you start and observe and ask the other guys, on race weekends, you may be there until 1 or 2 am and have to be back at the track by 7........from most parts of the city, it takes the better part of an hour with NO traffic to get to Sears and you're going to be doing it everyday, not to mention $5 a day in bridge tolls.....plus the city will be more expensve than a place in Novato or Sonoma or summshit that's closer to the track....think about it.....

I'm gonna PM you slydrite...don't want to push Liam's gig off topic. :)

those tubes into the exhaust header are probably just for emissions. :shhh don't tell anyone. :laughing

Or those tubes are in fact bleed ports controlled by some kind of valve that only operate during decel/hard braking to reduce engine braking?

Hrm... :nerd

BTW, is that motor a later spec Yamaha M1?

Moth - you're getting close.
Myk, Sleepr - It is quite possibly the most beautiful engine I've ever come into contact with.

If you ever catch me in person, I'd be happy to talk more about this particular 2006 M1 engine. . . . (or any of the rest of them, haha)

Another picture of arte, and yes, there is a gearbox in there.

They're pieces of art... Had them all in my hands and all technical specs set aside, the cnc work is stunning!

Will upload some detailed images that we've shot. Nice for desktops i.e.

And no, I won't tell what Liam is trying to share with you all. :nerd

Hej Cascadeur! Gorgeous Stuff. I'll call you this week to say Merry Christmas, and thanks for the big shots :)
