*Liam's Wild Ride*

i die a little bit inside when NBC broadcasts the races...

I didn't want to camp for the weekend and also wanted to go out w/some friends last night so I did what any stupid MotoGP fan would do and got up early and drove from Detroit to Indy (660 miles round trip) :thumbup

Being greeted by the smell of 2T bikes was just so great. :teeth

Sucks the weather delayed/cancelled some excellent racing but I think it was a pretty good race. I'm a Vale fan and happy he won but I was super stoked for Nicky. :ride He rode a hell of a race. Great to see him on the podium once again. Spies did pretty damn good as well. :thumbup I was hoping Colin would have a go in the top 10 but it wasn't meant to be.

Uploading pics right now. Will post the link later.

Liam - Did anything get damaged when the "box" got blown over?

Next year I'm definitely going back to Laguna...I'd rather put up w/hot weather than 30+ mph winds. :wow Who's got a spare bike I can rent for the week??? :p

Who's got more pics?
Here's a few...
I promise I'll email all of them in a couple/three dayz when I return to Cali :thumbup

Sorry they're not as good as Jules and everyone else. It's just a PnS Canon G9.

My pics here. http://flickr.com/photos/10468678@N03/sets/72157607299989473/

This is Rocio, one of Nacho's co-workers, and she speaks with a British accent, having studied in England for a year. Dinner was amazing and we overlooked a small pond with a waterfall in the background. The sounds were soothing and the photo doesn't do the place justice. Salou is about an hour outside of Barcelona, and there are cool villages in the mountains to visit.

I'm Back in My House!

Just got back from Indy after a really weird and wild week, including such adventures as Liam and Michelle go to White Castle . . . in Chicago, hahahaha!

Extra special memories include checking out the Indy Mile courtesy of Red Bull, and more fun days and nights that I'll get into later :) Notice the KTM, ER-6's, and Aprilia dirt-trackers, they were frickin' awesome.

Can't believe I'm back in my house again, and I feel Grrrr-eat! Back later!

Oh, and Jim, yeah, first crash of the weekend for me, doh! But I did manage to keep it on two wheels at the trackday I went to on Monday following the Indy race . . . Woot! Pictures to follow as I get around to collecting them all. Folks - email me!

Yo,

great shots of the various & interesting non-HD trackers, tho you missed the pair of factory [!] Yamaha Vision [!] machines which one Nat'l # is campaigning -
he said the speed & power are fine, but the mid-80s powerplant lacks reliability so far......

who'd've predicted Visions ??

that's almost as weird as the 80s factory Hondas CX500s, which were turned 90-degrees & enlarged to 750cc -
their repeated failures led directly to the purpose-built, Championship-winning Shobert/Graham/Poovey tool room examples
that've appeared at M/C shows recently

Liam, so should we expect you on this weekends mini bike ride? :teeth

Don't quote me, but I'll try to make it. Depends on my schedule because I've got a lot to take care of and only a few days to make the most out of my time here.

BTW, there's two types of active suspension being tested and running around right now.

Ducati Magic - On the Track

I spent Monday afternoon after Indy at the racetrack. Not Indianapolis (which was blown out and kind of gnarly), but at a white picket fence-lined "private" course in the middle of nowhere (read: corn fields abound) that's frequently used for Indy Car testing about 45 minutes outside of Indy. I spent a fair amount of time talking with Buddy Rice (2-time Indy 500 winner) in our box at the GP, and then again on Sunday night, so I was pretty excited to see a track where these fast guys run their cars out of sight and in secret.

I'm still waiting on more pictures, but here's one of Cook Neilson (Daytona winner in '77) looking on as I rip open the 1098R on the left, while "someone else" punches the Desmosedici D16RR in the 'stones on the right. It was a fantastic trackday, and gave me further insight into Ducati's Traction Control (from the saddle, WOOT!) and what the little Factory is capable of. Yes, haha, I now know it's possible to wheelie the "R" in 5th.

As the sun started to set, my girl and I decided to run up to Chicago for some deep dish pizza and a White Castle mission. 24 hours later (and $200 USD worth of pizza), we were back in Indianapolis to catch our flight out of the Midwest, and head back to the Bay Area. I'll probably be found in my usual haunts, getting ready for the last push of the 2008 season.

P.S. Hurray for borrowed gear! While I would have loved to have been kitted out in my personal stuff for this adventure, the truth is, I was having so much fun that I didn't even notice what I was wearing, just the wind, the tires, and that bellowing roar of pure "overdog" twin cylinder power.
