Living in Concord

Christian schools, Stan. My daughter has a learning disability and we put her in a local christian school. $8k per year, 12 students in her class. It's a very nice school.

I was just gonna say Tim...

You pay a lot to be devoid of religion in the private school world.

worth it though.... Look how great Stan turned out !! :banana :love (no homo)

Thanks for the recommendations, Mikey. I've only been to Korea House (and they suck big time), I'd recommend chop chop on contra costa blvd, better quality but more pricey. I've also been to Chopan, but I find afghani food pretty meh mostly.

I am excited to try Lulu's and Pacheco Bistro. My recommendations are:

Veggie Today
Good vegetarian place. I'm not into vegetarian food but it's still good.

Taqueria La Plaza
Super good and cheap Taqueria.

Lafayette has Pizza Antica and Chow. And El Jarro for fantastic tortas.

And that's all I know even though I've lived in the area for decades, the talent is really that slim. Everywhere in Walnut Creek sucks; overpriced, bland food.

My recommendation is Pomegranate in downtown WC.

Long as I got easy access to a pho joint during the winter and good burger the rest of the year, I'm copacetic anywhere. :laughing

Eureka, Willows shopping center

Casa Gourmet Burrito, Lafayette

Melo's Pizza, Pleasant Hill

El Farro, on Monument in Concord

pasta pomodoro, pleasant hill

Casper's Hot Dogs, pleasant hill

Saigon Vietnamese Bistro, W.C.

Enough about school districts, let's talk about food yo!

Awesome spot for chinese food, mostly Szechuan cuisine. They have some specials that are off the menu that you have to ask for.
Homespice Bistro

One of the best Szechuan restaurants in the bay area IMO, love the food here.
Lulu's Kitchen

Not a lot of great Korean restaurants in Concord, but this is probably my favorite
Korea House
There's also Seoul Jung that has all you can eat, do it yourself korean bbq, but the quality has gone downhill. Used to be much better :(

Overall good Afghan food, but their Chapli Kabob is amazing. I've had Afghan food all over the bay area and they have the bst Chapli Kabob IMO
Chopan Kabob

Pretty good Vietnamese food, love the Pho and Bun Bo Hue
Saigon Bistro

A bit of a drive from Concord, but a new up and coming Burmese restaurant in Pacheco/Martinez area. I go here once every other week.
Pacheco Bistro

Pretty good sandwich spot, the Capastrami (pastrami w/ coleslaw and russian dressing) is my favorite.
Capriotti's

True! Lots of good restaurants abound.

And Motorcycle Dealers in Concord, Pacheco & Walnut Creek!
Ducati, KTM, Triumph, Honda Kawasaki, Suzuki, HD, & BMW.

Also one of the few remaining Drive-In Theatres.

2 Shotgun Ranges nearby as well and a couple gun shops.

I've been wanting to check out Chop Chop but heard mixed things about it. I'll give it a shot sometime soon. :thumbup

You convinced me, if I didn't already live here, I'd move here. :laughing

At one point we had a Malibu Grand Prix.. That was so fun.. :(

One of the reasons I didn't buy a Yamaha, when I was shopping recently, was that the Yamaha dealer's were in Vallejo, Berkeley or Livermore.

Put a thread up about the future home for my family, and I get food talk. Love it. :laughing

Hey we're just trying to show you all the things you get to look forward to once you're here :thumbup

For the most part, everyone is saying the same thing about schools and neighborhoods to avoid or consider.

Maria Maria tastes like a couple of white people did a huddle, called the mexican play but never actually went to mexico or talked to any mexicans, and then opened a restaurant.

I know, right?

Unfortunately where we live, the national average does not apply.

My 2 year old daughter goes to school M/W/F, and it's $1,000 a month.

here's another data point - Martinez preschool (for a four year old, M - F up to 6am to 6pm) = $940 per month, wil probably go up $20 - 40 per month in January.
