March 31, 2018 Free Annual Dyno Day @ Nor-Cal Cycles LLC

For this specific run, how long does it take from start to finish? Asking because those who have never had a bike dyno'd might like to know.

Dyno run is a few minutes, but you wait around for your turn. Expect to be there awhile. Did it a few years ago. Met a couple of BARFers.

It's fun if you have a few hours to kill, but if you want e.g. a baseline run probably better to pay for one. Then you'll get your exhaust gas numbers.

This is a good description of how it goes. Bring earplugs.

Bring earplugs.

I felt bad for the neighbors across the alley.

My FZ1 with Delkevic can, baffle installed didn't seem that loud when I was riding it. But standing behind it WOT through the power band, holy crap!

Great opportunity, to either brag or change the subject and avoid answering the question.

It's 3 base passes per bike - limited to 1 bike per person because we try to get everyone ran. I can't recall which year, our tuner ran 60+ bikes within the day with barely time to scarf down a slice of pizza... pretty sure that won't happen again... avg os about 40 bikes. Once it's strapped to the dyno, takes about a couple minutes. It's first come, first serve so there will be a sign in sheet. There will be a wait time depending on how many riders are on the list ahead of you. See you in about 2 weeks

The neighbors have been great since 2008! They don't bother or complain. We don't do any early dyno/tuning and nothing after 5pm...
And yes, WOT on even stock cans can be pretty loud

It's great that you guys do this. Unfortunately for me, I'll be out of town. There's always next year!

Yes, it has been an annual thing we had going since 2008... exception of 2017 due to our expansion of service and sales department... See you next at the 2019 dyno day:cool:cool

This is what I got when I went there, plus one from an identical bike that still had the stock (lower compression) piston in it:

I would like to find out what my KTM makes at the rear wheel.

That was my old XRL. The low comp piston one!!!:afm199

I went 3 years ago and it was pretty fun. It does get LOUD. Mine shook the building so much the mouse started moving.

Where is the entrance to the dyno, front of the shop or somewhere on the back ?
Never been there and just looked at google street and it’s not clear

Wish I could make it, hope you have another one later

We will have another one in 2019:cool:cool

Our dyno is located in the rear of the shop. Access to the rear would be through a private alley which you won't able to see on google. On the day of, you can just pull up to the front of the shop and somebody will guide you to our dyno area.:thumbup:thumbup

Pull up in front of the shop, then go forward and keep turning right at every opportunity until you hear the sound of a loud motorcycle pulling hard at maximum engine speed. Easy. :laughing

I am interested to see what my ancient and venerable gsxr pulls on the dyno.
