Mega Millons

How does the lottery turn over a 1/2 billion dollar prize. Do they hand you a check you deposit at your local credit union?

i wouldn't let them deposit the full amount into one bank or credit union. FDIC coverage limit is $250,000 per depositor. gotta have it all planned out beforehand ...

Do you get to keep the giant sized fake check they take pictures with? You know, to like sleep with and make out a little with, and junk?

Something like...

My $2.00 investment returned $4.00. Doubled my money.

there's a perfect storm happening right now for lotto players and the lotto commission. the powerball is creeping pass the 500 mil mark as we speak and the mega next tuesday to go off at 1.6 B, its gonna be bananas if both of them gets picked in the same week....:party:party:party

I need this shit to be over with. It seems every other day I have to fork over $4 to some well meaning co-worker to continue entering the *pool*. I know it's only $4 at a time but it's beginning to add up. I'm not a gambler but I'm pretty sure there are other lotto options with a better return on my money.
But.....
If my co-workers won and I found myself on the outside looking in over a measly $4 I'd fucking kill myself.
(digs another 4 bones out of wallet)

Buy a smaller share. A fifty cent contribution will still give you enough to retire if your team has the winning numbers. You’ll be their bitch though.

Do rich people play the lottery ?

Poor people see earning potential as a game of chance, rather than a game of skill. Rich people are usually the opposite, and understand that most often, people who create value will be rewarded.

This fundamental difference makes the whole appeal of lottery tickets disappear in the eyes of most rich people. As a result, they are less likely to buy them.:party

Rode up to the California Nevada border (Gold Ranch Casino in Verdi) to buy a winning lotto ticket, but was unwilling to wait in the long assed line to buy it. Wondering if I can claim the 1.6 billion dollar tax deduction using the 1040EZ form, or if I have to use the 1040 long form?

That's it. I'm not buying personal tickets, but there's no way in hell I'll be the last one standing at work.

Given that I work in an ER, we'd probably have to come up with a plan to do a gradual phase-out. Maybe pay the ones who volunteer to stay behind so the place isn't screwed a slightly larger share.

Pay the new multi millionaires overtime rate as an incentive to stick around.
That might not work.

At this rate there is a chance someone will walk with 1B after the lump and taxes.....wowza.

So, odds are 1 in 302 Mill based on number of available tickets. Ticket value increases with sales prior to drawing.

Drawing is now with a lump value of over 8oo mill. Total cash value to buy every possible ticket is 604 Mill.

Interesting.

Further research indicates there are 7 States where you can buy tickets online if you register yourself with the state lottery authority.

Interesting...

if odds are 1 in 302M, than it's 302M combinations. That's kind of how odds work...

Time is the constraint and why you can't buy up all the tickets.

Also, all it takes is someone else to win it with you and than you're hosed.
