While unemployed, I haven't really needed to commute from the East Bay to SF. But this morning, I had a 9am meeting in the Mission.

When I fired up Waze as I got ready to ride in at 8:30am, it reported trip time from right around Ashby and San Pablo in Berkeley to 20th at Harrison in SF as around 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Less than 25 minutes later, I was parked and at my meeting, and some of the people I passed along the way at the toll plaza were probably still trying to get across the bridge.

Moto commuting is like riding a magic time machine of joy :ride

Yup! I commute pacifica to cupertino and i get to work in about 35 minutes on average. My coworker who lives in willow glen? Take him 45 minutes to get to work and its about 25 less miles.
Re: Waze: I think google maps should have a moto tab like it does for pedestrians so I can get an accurate ETA excluding traffic. :teeth

Took me a solid hour this morning, splitting all the way to yerba buena island. Two credible attempts on my life in those 15 miles.

I can't imagine how long it would have taken in a cage. I'd probably have called in sick.

... until you die.

A bunch of people who actually ride instead of making car videos are pretty good counters to that statement.

They are high quality, content loaded, luxury touring, drift videos.

Don't degrade them by calling them just "car videos"

What part of my statement do you have a beef with—the ribbing, or the facts? And how are you cool with the "till you die" nonsense if not with what I said?

Took the cage for the first time in weeks today. Left at 5:20am in hopes of beating traffic. The magic was lost the second I added an extra set of wheels. Sat at the toll plaza for a good half hour because someone stuffed themselves into a toll booth.

Not typical of a young guy (jump4x).. more typical of our more mature audience when feeling crusty or a non-rider.

I'm haunted every day that my bike might be down and I'd have to actually drive the 40 miles from Walnut Creek to Burlingame.

I'm oddly looking forward to the rain. After 2 weeks I'll probably be dreaming of sun and squids again.

Oh yeah, I'll take 20mins over an hour or more via car or BART. Sucks when it rains, but totally worth it.

Holy fark, 2 1/2 hours from Oakland to downtown SF this morning. Didn't have a choice but to drive, or I'd have turned around and gone home. :barf :mad

SF to pleasanton the bike saves me like 40 minutes each way. Fuck driving a car; it takes just as long as BART, but at least BART lets me read on the way and I don't have to park.

After nearly 5 years of commuting, come November I will be working 5 minutes from my house. I have no idea what to do with myself. I imagine I will have moto withdrawals. Guess it's time to start riding just for fun again!

I have been just minutes from work my entire career... spoiled.

When you start riding for fun again... I am sure you will find plenty of smiles....because it is fun!
