Motorcycle commuting is magic

Ahhhhhh!!!

I get it now.

I have been just minutes from work my entire career... spoiled.

When you start riding for fun again... I am sure you will find plenty of smiles....because it is fun!

Until you die...

had to be done...

Hopefully until I die. Yes.

It saves me a couple hundred bucks a month in toll and gas, not to mention at least an hour every day. It's nice to know I'll get to and from work pretty much the same everyday, all the extra backup this morning only added a couple minutes. Plus it's fun.

Have any of you been in your car on the way in and traffic was so bad you decide to reschedule your day and turn around and go back for your bike?

I did this a couple weeks ago. Had to bring in some items that required a cage, so when I got on the freeway and it was instant stop, I turned off next exit got the bike and rescheduled my meeting for another day with hopefully less traffic.

The whole needing to carry things is why I got the RT. I've carried an entire trade show w/booth and stand on the RT. Side cases, trunk, booth sideways behind me on the pass seat with a stand up and a small box on top.

I had to go from FF to San Mateo on Thurs. G'Maps said 2:20 when I left. No traffic its just over 60min. Did it in about 75, including a fuel stop. Plenty of time for breakfast.

I will say, commuters on 92 are crazy. Two people looked at me and then proceed to merge into me. One laughing and one looked angry. I much prefer 680.

Took me a solid hour this morning, splitting all the way to yerba buena island. Two credible attempts on my life in those 15 miles.

I can't imagine how long it would have taken in a cage. I'd probably have called in sick.

Holy fark, 2 1/2 hours from Oakland to downtown SF this morning. Didn't have a choice but to drive, or I'd have turned around and gone home. :barf :mad

This is exactly why I ride... bay area commute times... nope.

Moto commuting is like riding a magic time machine of joy :ride

JOY /joi/ noun. 1. a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

Personally commuting in general is hardly a great pleasure for me but a necessary evil to pay the mortgage. In exchange I get to put myself in Thunderdome twice a day with cellphone-entitled idiots, reckless hotheads, and intentional encroachment from brodozers. Yeah it saves time and money, but I don't feel the magic part. At least not any more. Now get me on a country road on a Saturday and ze joy doth splooge :twofinger
