Musicians: Monthly Jam Session?

ok, who's the pervert that put a jaco tune in there? :cry :laughing

btw, love this version of Gin & Juice. i've got it in my collection as being done by Claypool and John Popper (Blues Traveller dude.. that's his name, yeah?), but I'm not sure who else.

editit: some googling around points to The Gourds being the band that did this cover of Gin & Juice.

Jaco pwns j00 all!

Okay, so here's the lowdown on the tuneage -- let's plan to do these four songs:

Adam Ant - "Goody Two Shoes (Don't Drink, Don't Smoke)"
Foreigner - "Cold As Ice"
Jethro Tull - "Locomotive Breath"
Alien Ant Farm (Michael Jackson) - "Smooth Criminal"

And if there's more time, or if we get bored with one of the first four, we can work on these other tunes or we can throw something into the CD player and try to learn something else.

Rev. Horton Heat - "Liquor, Beer, and Wine"
Weezer - "Say It Ain't So"
Kermit the Frog - "Not Easy Being Green" (Orchestration/arrangement is all up to the Rumpster)

So get cracking on learning those tunes! :thumbup

:teeth Thanks! I'm having fun with the Rev. Horton Heat tune, though, so I hope we have time for it. :thumbup

So you did finally get a copy of it that you could use. I was "saving" it for you, since it has some nice honky tonk piano in it . . .

Let's plan to try to get to that one then, as it has a special place in my heart, as it's the first tune I ever learned to play on the bass. :thumbup

:thumbup Hooli got me the audio and I found the bass tabs. Just been working with that. It's a fun song. (I thought maybe it was special to you 'cause you used to wake up under that neon sign frequently. :p)

Hey, would you mind sending me the bass tabs to it? I collected a bunch last night, but I can't remember if I found this one or not.

Deeter, do you happen to have any rock fake books around for sax parts? I'm not sure where to look online for that stuff.

BTW, I suck. This is going to be funny :teeth

No problem. I'll PM. Do you have the Adam Ant tabs?

:laughing It would stand to reason that the BARF band would be...special. :wtf

Barb: It was pretty much understood that I often wake up under flashing neon signs . . . :laughing

Tim: You're going to be in good company! :laughing I don't have fake books for anything, I pretty much try to figure tunes out from recordings or download the tabs and/or chord changes from the Online Guitar Archive and reverse engineer the chord changes from that.

Negative! I'd appreciate you sending that along too. Thanks!

:( Oops, I just PM'd you asking if you had them. I haven't found, yet. I suppose it should be a pretty easy structure to figure out but...

I can probably take Cold as Ice (drums for those of you who don't know)

Say, how late will this be goin' on? I gotta meet some people in SF after. (not sure what time) Possible to hitch a ride with someone at some point?

Thanks.

(Oh, and bump.)

shit, i might be teaching someone how to ride that day.

is there someone thats going to be there whos phone number i have that i can call if its still going on?

Yes, it's still on, yes, it's going to be 3:00 this Saturday (1/28/06), and no, you should not be trying to teach anyone how to ride, Chester. :twofinger

Preston, it'll go till people get tired of doing it and/or want to leave to go to Maggie's Chicago Pizza & Movie Night.

Bring your instrument/equipment, and if you want to totally rule, a six-pack of something. Those of you who are planning on coming, please drop me a PM and I will send you my address and phone #. I want to get an idea of who is still on-board for this.

Thanks! :thumbup
