wow looks great Calamari. what type of stone is the BBQ siding and counter top? nice pics man.

Project "Overhaul"

One crew removed all of the wood shingles and another crew put the majority of the felt paper down yesterday. Luckily the plywood didnt have any rot to replace. 10 guys were on the roof at once. They cleaned up the entire lot before leaving too. I was impressed with the first day's work.

Copper for the valleys and flashings. Should basically last forever and doesnt rust. Changes it's look over time as well. Gutters and downspouts have not arrived yet.

Being exposed to people with different talents and skills from different trades has been quite educating over the last year.

Nothing special planned yet for the garage. It's on schedule for late next year. Feel free to offer up some ideas. :teeth

rotating floor with a touch-screen tv (where you can pick out your bike) ditto for the gear and helmets also...:teeth

^ or a race fuel refueling station....:teeth

For the garage:

a bike lift, an LCD/Plasma TV with couches, etc.. on a section in the garage for when you get tired of wrenching and need a break.

Man you watched Under the Tuscan Sun wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many times. :laughing:laughing

Looks bad ass. keep it up.........:thumbup

thanks for the comments. garage improvements noted as well. :) maybe Guiness on tap!@ :wow :teeth

Day 4

Roofers are gone after 3 days of work, so the painters can do their thing without breaking tile. Place is tore up. :(

Roof2Wall flashings installed for the most part, stucco repaired, felt paper down, eaves first coat.

That nasty mustard was NOT the color i chose. Back to the store dude! :hand

really good work bro! Can't wait to see the finished product.

congrats on fulfilling your dreams, I love to see people do that.

appreciate the kind words

here's the latest progress, 5 days in now.. paint came out a bit lighter than I initially chose. But I like it. Any further paint delays would push the roof off schedule so I went with this. Trim needs to be painted... another day or two then the roofers come back.

did you have to beef up the roof supports to handle the extra weight of the tile? or was that even a consideration that was necessary? You have a really beautiful home and nice taste as well..

If you want real Italian shit, get rid of the pavement and get some cobblestone in the driveway/court area ;) Also, some sort of fountain if you don't have one already

It was deemed that the support was strong enough especially with all the rafters that no upgrades were needed. We are installing light weight clay tile, which is still about 600 lbs per square but less than standard weight which is around 900 lbs. The "wood shingles when wet was just as heavy" according to the roofers as the new tile coming on.

Yes agreed about the cement. I mentioned in a previous post that is a future project. :)

Nice progress on the house. I would like to see the end result. It's quite satisfying to see the end result of one's labors and efforts. :cool
