My OG mend has started.

Hmmm, mebbe a protein based/keto friendly meal kit delivery service for a month. Spare her from shopping or meal plan, just chop and heat food. There also are pre-prepped versions, just heat and eat. Pricey long term but fine for a month or so til you can BBQ yer own again.

The family stuff coupled with political stuff really screws with the healing. Im not sure what Delilah needs from you in order to move back into the bedroom. :dunno
I do know that both sides of that equation are extremely difficult to balance.

Bud, keep up the physical work but more than anything do something about the mental state. I had a bit of depression doing recovery/rehab in dreary winter time many years ago. Thankfully I recognized it for what it was........frustrated at being immobile, stuck inside, dark and dreary, alone too much as the wife was traveling on business. Reach out to your close friends for phone conversations not just online. I believe live conversation could help.

Hope I am not driving to the first Rally.

Speaking of Rally's, I'm looking forward to Rally season. Do we have any dates yet?

If I was retired I would be 1/2 as mad :laughing

This is an accurate statement! I can't tell you how much being retired has changed my disposition. At work I had the reputation of being gruff, way too serious for some folks. I've encountered many of them since I retired and even had one ask, "Who are you, you are so relaxed and jovial compared to before you retired".

Life is short, time to retire and get on with it.

If you haven’t seen “Hells Angels ‘69”, it’s a corny biker flic that has its over the top acting moments that should raise your spirits. And you will see all the Angels in it as well as a glimpse of Fred’s in the background when they go to Sonny’s place to rent dirt bikes.

@RT_Russ Rally announced any day now.

A lot of the stuff people have shared make sense, but honestly I cannot address because of life circumstances. I do appreciate the ideas!!

Sometime.s just knowing there’s a social safety net under you is enough to make it through.

Currently I'm having some light surgery,
7 years later, after melanoma cancer removal, migrating surgical equipment, used in closing the hole, I have half dozen lumps under my skin, scattered around where the repair happened.

Itches like crazy, before removal, itches like crazy, healing.
Working my Mag Boy, as a massager, gets the blood flowing, and kills the itch.
Another tool for rehab, I remember having itchy bones too.

I was asked in my last appointment, if I was working,
I proudly pointed out that "They pay me, NOT to go to work"
She liked that viewpoint.

Oh that must feel great!! Congratulations, you got this!

19 week check in.

Heading to the gym after I type this to do some resistance training for legs and also other body parts.

In PT this week I showed off my cane free walking to the therapist. She was impressed. Forward and backward actually. Deal is the leg gets tired pretty quickly so still a short timer, but doing more of that around the office and house.

Big focus is strength and flexibility. Who would think that?? :laughing

At home at night doing my knee lifts I am now starting to envision the leg extending to get over the seat of DU CAT. I am doing this in front of the couch and it has big pillows that are almost to the seat level. I imagine trying to extend the leg in the next couple of weeks, but right now while I think I could do it, I think it is too dangerous to do alone.

The day to day stuff is still boring. Same story different day with a highlight or two here or there. The commitment to PT is strong. Taking a day off means only doing PT once and chilling when I get home. One day a week and one week day. Still stretch though. I am seeing progress there with the F'ing hamstrings.

So want to ride to the Pit Ho Rally so keeping the faith on PT is strong and the Mrs sees it and has acknowledge it a few times. Just like Thumper said she says "You got this" too and she keeps the ride soon thoughts in the positive.

OK.. I am starving and need to get the workout done first so if you are looking at this please know this has been the most difficult rehab of the many I have done, but "I got this". :teeth

YOU DO GOT THIS!!

FWIW I have this awkward and heavy apparatus to help pick up my bike when I drop it. The joy of being short with a bum leg. No pride, no dignity, no shame! Until you’re 100% your friends will be there to help with the dismount after a long ride.

Another step forward.

Stupid but important. I was able to put on my sock today without the damn machine thingy. :laughing

Had been able to dry my feet without using the cane for about 3 days so an attempt was made.

It was not pretty but a win.

Some physical wins noted recently and a goal to at least sit on my bike within a couple weeks.

Little things!! When you feel kicked in the head, hop back to the beginning of this thread.
You’ve come a long way baby!

YOU GOT THIS!

Just did that... and yes I have come a long way.... Yet it is amazing to me that I am still so challenged.

24 weeks in. Still making progress, still frustrated it is not faster but old bones so just keeping the head down and working this shit.

Official PT is once a week for leg and once a week for the shoulder.
Hit the gym to do my own exercises and PT 5 of the last 7 days. Enjoying that even if I am an old whimpy man compared to the old days. A little warm up biking and stretching at home at night.

Progress.... This week I was able to:
* Wash my car and dry it off without using a cane.
* Get gas without using a cane
* Up the bicycle level at the gym. Started at 6 - 7 for 20 minutes 3 weeks ago or so and now I start @ 6 and I am up to 9 after 4 min. Dip into 10 at 10 minutes and fade back down the last two minutes with another 2 minute cool down back to 6. Working up a good sweat and doing very control exercise breathing.
* Balancing on one foot is still a challenge and I am making progress, but a long way to go. On the busted leg when I release the effort it hurts a ton for a second or too, but gotta do it. One leg step ups are another big challenge I am working on. Tried 10" this week in PT.. tough. Normal is 6" and that is tough.
* All in on shoulder rehab now too. Major arthritis. Range of motion slightly better. Therapist says getting to 75% range of motion is the goal and of course increasing the strength. After yesterdays upper body gym workout it was sore last night, but feels better this AM.

And... yesterday I actually got stoned. Two bong hits sent me to the moon. Felt awesome. Posted a dumb hair question accordingly :facepalm :laughing

The big deal was I got the munchies... I have been such a good boy on the diet and here I was out of control for the first time. I snuck upstairs and raided the kitchen (twice). I was able to Ninja in without using the cane so quiet success. :smoking

Also I was able to really do some good stretching as stoner boy got really focus and I could really feel all the muscles when I went through sort of martial arts focused movements while laying on the bed. Doing that I felt almost normal and it sort of gave me a view into a future where I will be a normal OG.

Can't do that often. F@cking munchies.

Still no attempt to sit on my bike. I think I will know the moment and it is drawing closer.
