New Zero Motorcycle Coming: Zero SR/F

There is a article that the Zero SR/F will have a full fairing version and have a 20 kWh battery!!!.

That would be amazing!!! Sadly the teaser photo doesn't have a fairing.

Sadly I can't charge at work so, 20kWh is where I'd feel comfortable making my long-ish commute roundtrip as the battery pack ages.

ZF14.4+Power Tanks is 18kWh with a claimed highway speed range of 112 miles or 6.22 miles/KWh with an MSRP of ~$16.9k (~$19.4k for the SR). The Lightning vaporware has a 20kWh battery pack option and would be *really* tempting except I fear a grossly higher MSRP.

20kwh that must weight a lot. I heard the powertank makes the bike feel more top heavy. Never ridden one with one though. The Empulse has 10.5KWH and it still feels heavy and the Energica even more heavy!

But yeah that's the ticket having enough range to make it to work and back and plug it in when you get home. Don't forget when the weather is cold you will lose range as well.

Someone should tell Moto GP that their motorcycles are unsafe.

MotoGP also has tracks designed with run off-area, air-fences, complsury airbag suits, guys racing the same tracks year after year and all around better safety standards.

PPIHC is a public road.

The idea seems a bit bullshit to me, but I'd rather have what we do rather than nothing.

The discussion is that there would be a naked and a fairing version. Who knows though.

More teaser from Zero with useless marketing fluff. I'm disappointed to see the same motorcycle that is currently in my garage.

Pretty sure with the recent news of the Lightning Strike and Ducati throwing their hat into the game, I'm going to hold off on the SR/F.

Well they are still going with the SR model name, so I would not expect it to be that much different. I'm OK if the looks don't change that much and the range, charging and power specs continue to improve.

Thank you! I hadn't thought about the weight much. The only Zero's I've ridden were the FX's at off-road events. If those had the 1-way range, I could pull the battery and charge it under my desk. Still, very excited to go electric once the range gets there. No gas stations or maintenance but tires and brakes, oh my!!! :)

Corey West is a god to me, btw.

The FX is really light for an electric I test rode a FXS and that thing is a hoot to ride it feels about as fast as the SR, I was wondering how is it so fast? It's because its very light but the battery is small so the range sucks.

I wish Zero would sell a bike with this same fairing. That bike is SWEET! Icon knows how to dress dem bikes up!

Please be cognizant of the bolded part above. (claimed)
I have ridden the SR w/Power tank.
It could get the claimed over 100mpc at freeway speeds... if the freeway is flat and level and there is no stop/go traffic. (and you maintain "freeway" speed, not faster)
I could use just under 1/2 charge to get from Scotts Valley (Zero) to home (25 miles) riding a very fast pace (reverse commute over Hwy 17).
I couldn't complete a 75 mile loop in the Western foothills loop that I frequently ride. (skyline, tunitas creek, 1, Stage, Swanton, Davenport, Bonnydoon, Empire, Jamison, 236)
If you ride a spirited pace, in the foothills with frequent accell/decell stints (I did say spirited pace, in the twisties) you will be using up those Joules much quicker.
It IS a lot of fun doing it though!
And I do still like the Zero's.

Yeah, that fear is why I'm thinking 20kWh. My commute is 80 miles round trip. About half in the mount twisties at, ideally, a spirited pace and half droning along the highway with the traffic typically flowing above 70mph in the morning (early). Coming home the highway part is mostly lane splitting which'll be kinder to the battery until I'm back on the twisties.

So, another 20% increase in capacity from your example (18 to 20KwH) and I just might make it home! ...while the battery is brand new. :-/

Half-faired maybe like... umm an SV650S?

Excited for the reveal. :ride:cool

I will say, looks like maybe a radiator on the front?

Are they already water cooled? Or maybe they are water cooling their batteries now? Would be a big improvement to the longevity of the battery pack, especially if they introduce DC fast charging.

Additionally, looks like a secondary brake cable on the front. So dual disc brakes on the front maybe.

I love this speculation haha.

Looks like they released another teaser. Looks to be a naked bike unless they removed fairings for this: https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/zero-srf/

It has 14.4 on the label, so 14.4kWh battery?

Yes, Zero calls out the nominal battery capacity like that. Unfortunately, Zero is already selling a 14.4kWh, I was hoping for more. Zero does sell an extra 3.6 kW battery, so maybe they will offer a bigger extra battery.

Interesting the battery pack for the SRF on that website looks similar to the Brammo battery pack with the heatsinks and all. Wish the Victory ones were like that I think they look cooler no pun intended :)
