Newbie Passenger

I'm gonna take a wild guess she's already considered that. :rolleyes

For cryin' out loud, someone give the lady a ride already. :laughing

my post you quoted was a question out of my own curiosity. it was not a suggestion.

Haha, I'm not looking for love and if you are in the south bay, I'll take you riding. I've ridden with a lot of newbie passengers. All you need to do is listen and you'll have plenty of fun.

2007 R1 :)

Happy new year to all! Ive been a busy girl with movin n running a shop! Ive gotten riden with an ol friend n took the bike 150....breath takin. Listening agreed....u have to listen to what my hand signals mean. <3 rey

Welp, if you would like to go riding, feel free to PM me, maybe we could setup a small group ride or something :).

And I'm a girl with her own helmet and gear and looking to ride with someone safe...of course! Not looking for love, just to enjoy the freedom you get when your on a bike! xoxoxoxoxoxo

Suggestion- gain a little independence, and get your M1 and your own bike. Ride whenever you want, without putting your life in some random stranger's hands you met on the intarwebz, who may be anything from a super-nice experienced guy to an idiot with no throttle control to an axe murderer.
Oh sure, odds are against the last one... :laughing Sadly, though, not so much against the 2nd one...
If you want to learn to ride, though, START HERE

However, if you really feel that operating a motorcycle yourself just isn't something you want to do, then seriously, PLEASE be careful about whose bike you get on. As SFCootz said, you really are putting your life in someone else's hands... there are a lot of guys out there who have bikes... and absolutely NO good judgment... who have no business taking a passenger out...

And there's a prime example of who you shouldn't be riding with. :facepalm

100% agree. you never know, could be a noob trying to show off. I say stick to people you already know. Hate to say it but someone who actually cares about you living thru the day

And even then, you can't always trust their judgment, as evidenced by the OP's friend taking her up to 150mph.
The advice I give, as a rule of thumb, is don't get behind anyone who doesn't have a minimum of 10,000 miles of experience under their belt.
Me personally? I can count on one hand the people I'm willing to ride 2-up with.

:wave welcome to chaos :)

Wow...i just want to ride. Appreciate the obvious advice...i just want to ride.

Nothing wrong with that... that's why I've been doing it for decades. Just be really selective about who you jump up behind- you're putting your life in their hands! :thumbup

enjoy the freedom of taking the wheel sometime trust me you'd never go back to passenger ;)

She is right, it takes a lot more than most people think to ride safely with a passenger. This is especially true on a bike that weighs between 350-450 lbs and has more horse power than a civic.

Personally, I will never ride passenger, not because of my pride, but, because of how little control I have. Its not like a car, if they mess up, the risk of my life being taken is significantly higher.

Wise words! :thumbup

The sad thing is that the people who shouldn't be carrying passengers aren't the ones who've figured that out... :(

Even I have to admit I thought the same thing when I was first starting to ride. That of course was until I fell over (literally) mid-turn after stalling on my first real ride.

It took four months of riding every day before I was confident enough to ride around the block with my GF. From there, short easy rides with her and later other friends. I'm able to go on long distance rides and plenty of twisties a few years later, but, even I wont risk much when someone is on the back. (If you seen me ride, you would understand that last comment :teeth)

Connie has some great advice, and she definitely has your best interest - heed what she says :)

Anyone who has an attitude of "showing off" or trying to give their passenger a good time should be avoided at all costs. I've had passengers on the back a number of times, and my primary concern is their safety. Anything else is just a bonus.

Learning to ride yourself, however, can be very beneficial, even if you prefer to be a passenger. First off, you begin to understand at least a little of what is going on in the drivers seat. Secondly, you have a better idea of just how much someone's movement can affect the driver. Third, you'll probably never go back to being a passenger :laughing

If you have questions, or are looking for some advice on being a good passenger, feel free to PM me. Always happy to help a fellow female rider, even if she prefers to be on the back!

Got all the advice needed and experience. Hey guys really...sounds like this needs to b said out loud. If i had. MONEY n time i wouldnt b here. But lets let the fingers do typing instead of using the throttle! Thank goodness for big dog dre who spends more time looking to ride than looking at screens typing! Lets just get a ride put together!

Are you saying if you had more time n money you wouldn't be on barf or you wouldn't be a passenger? One can never have too much advice and certainly never enough experience when it comes to motorcycle riding. "Spending time looking at screens typing" is a great thing to do and the people doing it are genuinely trying to help so thank goodness for them too...

I'm confused about what she has been saying for a few posts now. So my message to her is forget about my offer to her, lol, I thought she was a newbie passenger and wouldn't mind learning with a newbie SAFE rider. I want to learn how to ride with someone on my pillion too. I thought it would have been fun, newbie on newbie. Seems like she knows what she wants already though.

I just don't want the same sex with me on my pillion LMFAO, hope y'all understand. It's a guy/natural thing I guess.

What's up with a Doc Wong or comparable Pillion rider clinic? I may sign up for that depending on conditions aforementioned.
