Antonio Brown Is Still A Steeler Because He Didn't Want To Be A Bill - Deadspin

Things get very interesting from here. This is just Brown exercising a pro athlete’s only real leverage outside of free agency: a refusal to play. It’s no different than what Anthony Davis and so many NBA players have done, but it’s much rarer in the NFL, where owners would happily blackball the vast majority of players who tried this. But Brown is one of the few players talented enough to potentially avoid that fate, and financially secure enough to make real his threat of not playing. So do the Steelers actually quit trying to shop Brown and get nothing for him, or maybe trade him to one of his preferred destinations even knowing they’re low on leverage and might not get an even return? Brown has made it quite clear that’s not his problem.

Kick them squarely in the nuts as hard as you can, Mr. Brown. Good for you! :laughing

Why do the two best players on the Steeler team want to leave?

Anyone know? It seems like this is a symptom of an ongoing problem.

I think it will be OK. Cooper would disappear for extended periods of time, and dropped too many passes for my taste. He’s talented, but Brown is at another level.:thumbup

Ben likes to blame people for his shitty throws and praise himself for the good ones.

Except Carr is not on the same level as BigBen.

Carr is a top-10 qb......when he has time to throw. He is not good with pressure. Perhaps it's because he knew his wrs wouldn't catch it if he put his ribs on the line to make a play? We may see.

Plus, apparently AB and Carr hit it off well at a pro bowl a few years back. So there's some chemistry there.

trent brown, o-tackle, 4 years 66M. jesus, I thought they overpaid for their already-aging line. That was a 7th round pick, lol. well, now I know why they were cool with trading Osemele.

naw i think browns gonna act out when carr cant get him the ball

thats gonna lead into a divided lockerroom and diva brown gonna be all like we need fresh new oline to get carr more time so he can read d and call audible and get ME the ball

I aint forgetting brown aint a team player to what he did to his franchise last year. That was a whatchumacall it a poor sportsmanship showing when your team needed you.

And since when has carr been a top10?? He was ranked 22 this year and 21 last year....

Hmmm...do the Jags still have the same personnel/coaches on D that they had last year? If Foles can be the guy they need at QB they may go worst to first?

That's an insanely team friendly deal, 14M is guaranteed in year 1 and the rest is only guaranteed for injury. Look at what CJ Mosely just got paid lol

The Niners (ie Paraag Marathe) CONSTANTLY do this, every year, and people keep thinking that they overpay for guys when the contract details aren't out.

Wow, what a horrible trade for the Giants.
