NFL 2020

AZ collapse. It just happens to some teams (cough...Texans). And the 49er Super Bowl defense showed up. I kind of think the Az let their guard down, too, though, given the losing record of SF.

Beat hard got sacked, he fumbled but in general, the AZ rush was not formidable enough as some of the past few teams they have played so he had success. The one time he took matters into his own legs he nearly got a concussion.

Now the Klowns on the radio are playing what if.....I already know what if they had let Beathard start. He would have been pounded and pounded.

Don’t get me wrong, I respect the guy but he is not fast enough for today’s NFL. He got away from a few grasps. That would not have worked against the Rams or the WFT.

3 TD's is 3 TD's, Hoss. :dunno

But they didn’t loose in the 4th quarter so it wasn’t their Super Bowl defense. :twofinger

It was already in the cards (heh) but Saleh 100% got himself a HC job after today.

Less than ferocious pass rush by the Cards.

Jeff Wilson rushed for 186 yards!!! Jusceck even ran in a 4th and close.

I just refuse to get my hopes up for Beathard. Been there, done that. He was 1 for 9 in his starts. He kept getting pounded and pounded. He didn’t seem any faster than past days yesterday, but he had decent protection.

The radio guys kept saying yesterday: why didn’t Shanahan play CJ earlier this year? It reaches a point where you either respect the boy genius or are intellectually inconsistent. I think his system functioned very well yesterday, in large part because of Wilson’s great play and the return of MadDog Kittle. I think Shanahan thought Mullens could execute that system better and that may be the flaw in having such a plug and play system. We thought that about Belichick, that he could elevate anyone and still win and he did, but ol TB turned out to be pretty important after all.

Look, I’d like to love the guy with the best of ‘em but now that Niners are home for the holidays this year, other teams probably just aren’t gonna go after them as they normally would.

We’ll see what happens with sea slugs. They’ll probably take Beathard off on a cart, though Seattle isn’t as fierce at rushing as past years. I’d love to be wrong but....

Though probably finished in the NFL, Mullens got away from stuff this year that CJ cannot.

All Beathard needed to do was not lose the game. Mullens cannot do that. Saw it put an interesting way - Mullens is the guy you put in when your starter gets hurt in the 3rd quarter. Beathard is the guy you start when your real starter can't play.

Kittle back made a huge difference. He's the best blocking TE in football and he opens up the run game, which in turn lets the defense rest more, and oh by the way led the team in receiving yards on a limited snap count.

Also Kingsbury and the midget are both hella overrated. They are going to get stomped in the playoffs if they make it.

Looks like J-ville wins the Lawrence sweepstakes....

Yeah, I will be very surprised if they don’t take him. I still like Minshew as the starter in Jacksonville but I can see them doing the same as the dolphins, rookie and veteran working together.

Well, on the bright side, in the calendar year of 2020, the Raiders were the only team to defeat the Chiefs.... :laughing

yeah it's hard to believe. but this is what they are: good enough to beat the best teams, bad enough to lose to the worst teams. It just sucks to see such complete incompetence on the defensive side of the ball for so many years. The only explanation for such sustained ineptitude in light of all the efforts to rebuild, retool, use the draft and free agency, etc is that Guenther was awful. the constant injuries suck too, and every game for the last 8 or so games, a secondary starter or two has gone down with injury early in the 1st quarter. Regardless, even when they're healthy, they're getting torched.

Maybe if they could get a couple of key pieces in place they could hit the next level. Maybe they could trade someone like the Bears for a talented guy like Khalil Mack? That would probably help.

While the Bears may make the playoffs by virtue of being in the much weaker NFC, their defense hasn't exactly been "stellar"....
