NFL 2023

"They've been trying to build this offense for years and haven't been able to do it.". As people flood the stairs to leave with 11:20 left ..

Ouch, sorry ED lol.

I can't stand Joe Buck, unless he's reminding Troy Aikman about getting sacked 11 times by Buddy Ryan's defense. :laughing:laughing:laughing:rofl:rofl:rofl

If Shanahan doesn't cripple CMC with his play calling he could just be the MVP....

I think maybe use McCaffrey about 25 percent less so he lasts the season!

Thus far you can't deny he's a freak out there.

What were the Panthers thinking trading him away????

The Eagles haven't exactly mopped the field with anyone.

Close wins over the Pats, Vikings and Commanders, biggest win 25-11 over the Bucs.

They do play the Cowboys, Chiefs, Bills and SF starting in November though.

Agreed. That's one of the things I struggle with about football though. So few games and so much made of every performance. Feels a bit over analytical sometimes. Play the games, live and die by your record. You don't need to be perfect if you get the win. Most importantly, play your best ball when it matters most and stay healthy. As a fan I have decided to just hang on for the ride and be minimally invested and watch the game for kicks. Being a lifetime Eagles fan helps on remain pleasantly detached :laughing

He is a frickin beast and I do feel he is over-used, especially this first quarter of the season. I am trying to think of another player who got the yards after catch or after contact and hit so hard on his way down. He fights through like Riggins, hits like Earl Campbell but is so much more deft getting there and even adding in the hurdle jumps and such. Runs like passenger but crashes like freight. Holdin’ my breath a bit.

My amateur take is that Shanny is trying to prove something since Eagles but I wish he’d save it for the true contenders. Deebo got one or two targets, and I am not sure Kittle got any. Even in the quick release, Kittle should be reachable. But who knows by whom and how the decisions are made.

As great as McCaffrey was, I was astounded at Aiyuk’s catches and yards achieved. Not sure he is getting his due in the morning-after babble.

Oh and RIP Russ Francis. To those of us who followed the Teams of the 80s, he was a beloved player. More of a role-player but performed when it was needed.

Well, standing by my 4 week guns, I have to say that this Giants team just isn't very good. It is almost inexplicably so. It is like the excellent play from last year never happened.

The O-Line we have been trying to build for literally over a decade still hasn't become anything better than the unit that drove Eli Manning into Early Retirement, but it isn't a total surprise.

Part of the problem there is you cannot piece an O-Line together like assembling a machine. They need time to develop and grow together to gel as a unit, and part of the problem is we have made it our culture to constantly rotate in new players, free agents, draft picks, etc, so the line never gets to set.

Team Play > Individual Talent. I think your spot on. The Giants haven't been able to put together a cohesive O-Line since they saved us from the pats perfect season. To me that speaks of problems at the top.

They were being kind to him; it's not like they had the same kind of team around him in Carolina as they do in Santa Clara...

BUT, I still don't have a lot of faith in Shanahan.

In other news, KaAron Rodgers needs some attention as he went on the sleeveless punter's show and referred to Kelce as "Mr. Pfizer" because of his commercials.... :facepalm

Panthers were over using CMC and he was always injured. The 49ers, with many other options, can use him judiciously and he hasn't been injured at all AFAIK. He may never achieve HOF numbers with the 9ers, but he will have a longer and more productive career.

Hopefully, Shanahan has learned from his coaching mistakes in his Superbowl appearances. I'm sure his father has been more that up front on this. I like his as a coach, and him and Lynch as a team putting together a great group of players.

That being said, they dodged a bullet by obtaining Mr Irrelevant!

Anyone else chuckle a bit when the cowboys reported they would listen to Lance about 49er designs? As if McCarthy would understand any of it. I think their team is comparably built. I skew towards the niners due to fandom. I give the edge to the niners with the coaching. If the cowboys pull it off, it's due to their talent on the field. Not the office.

Agree that it'll be niners. I don't see that Dallas can move the ball like SF.

too bad about diggs. other than that, it should be a fun game to watch. good luck to the team you root for.

I am so bummed that the Niners/Cowgirls are playing this Sunday. I will be traveling overseas so am going to have to try and figure out how I can watch the game think I will be airborne at game time.

I totally agree, but that is why I am baffled by this year. Like we did the grand regime change, new GM, New Head Coach, and wildly unexpected success. They had a lot of these guys quite frankly playing over their heads and delivering.

What seemed to make sense to me is I was seeing the 2010 Niners. Like I complained to Niners fans through the 2010 Season that their poor performance made no sense. On Paper they were losing to teams they should have been much better than based on raw talent.

Turns out Singletary is just a terrible Head Coach. They drop in Harbaugh and BOOM - instant Superbowl contender for a few years.

Now Dabbs brought back both his Coordinators from last year, some of the Offense nonsense make sense, but the bad tackling and stupid penalties on Defense and Special Teams just aren't the performance we had last year from the same guys.

Only thing I can think is since we were just murdered by injuries last year and continued our legacy as the most injured team in football over the last decade or so, I know they tried to break that trend this year by not working the starters much leading up to the Season Opener, where Dallas just full blown shitshow murdered us, but I feel like there is more. I think there is a Psyche aspect to this that needs to be addressed.

Most flights have wifi these days. You should be able to use a Tablet or Mobile Phone App to get that going?

I think the OBJ boat trip cursed the Giants organization... I think he pissed in the Bermuda Triangle or something.... :laughing

Not sure it cursed OBJ, he got a ring since then even if his career tanked. :dunno

LOL, I don't think so. We had already been playing pretty poorly for 3 year before that ill fated and very short playoff run. It really comes down to the GM. Ernie Accorsi was a great GM and engineered a team that went to 3 Superbowls and won 2. One of the last things he did before he retired was organize the Eli Manning deal. Jerry Reese was somewhere between mediocre and bad and let that grand roster rot with age and a series of poor draft choices and free agent decisions over the next 10 years from 2007 to 2017.

So after talking with peeps at work who have made the same trip looks like I would be landing before the game starts. So I looked up game time and then local time where I will be at and damn it would start at 2:20am. that kind of sucks and is making me question how committed am I to my team.

Probably you can get a thing to watch when you wake up?

I am in the process of sending my defense a new training video.

I think I would never choose a Defense on purpose going against an uninjured Christian McCaffrey.
