Official 2018/2019 Sharks Thread!

Shame this was on page 3

Stanley cup finals are kicking ass.

Gotta root for the blues as underdogs with a long history needing a cup.

In other news, Chara skates before game 5 today, with a broken jaw. Beastmode.

Literally haven't watched any of the Final. Don't care either way, but would rather not see a team from St Louis win anything.

Blues look strong. When they clog the middle of the ice and stay out of the box, they're very tough to score on.

EK65 is having groin surgery..yikes.

Boston is dominating play but the Blues are doing their clog-the-middle thing to absolute perfection. there's no room for the Bruins' players to penetrate the middle of the ice.

This may just be the winning strategy. on to the 3rd period...

Huge congrats to the Cinderella Blues!!

damn you hot Binnington, wish you could have gotten the shutout.

LOL that it is one hour after game 7 of the cup final of a great game in a great series with an incredible Cinderella story season first time cup winning team beating a storied franchise and there are no posts besides mine and b4b's in this thread and the NFL thread is more active.

:rolleyes

yea, i'm happy for the blues, but i really wouldn't have gave 2 shits if Boston won. Just making no cup club a little bit smaller for the sharks.

I'm happy for the Blues! That was a great game, and Binnington made some ridiculous circus-like saves. Nice to see a team take the cup home for the first time.

(Hoping Toronto does the same tomorrow night ;) )

:laughing I only BARF while at work.

And just because I didn't feel like watching two teams I'm not particularly fond of, doesn't mean I'm part time fan. The Calder Cup was a lot of fun to watch, glad Vegas mini lost. :party Carolina should be proud of themselves and their minor league system. They had a great season.

Meh, two dirty teams playing for the Cup rarely interests me. I was 55/45 pulling for the Bruins, but I'm fine with seeing sad Marchand memes for the next year. Kinda makes it worth it.

NO!! It's NEVER over!! We have to keep talking about last season's Sharks while we talk about next season's Sharks!!:deadhorse

Congrats to the Blues. It was a hard fought, old school, physical brand of hockey. From last place to champions in half a season; that's movie material right there. Well deserved Conn Smythe by O'Reilly. He was easily the most consistent player on that team. I'm also impressed by Binnington. He showed great composure and made huge saves to keep his team in the game.

But....when there's no vested interest in either team, watching 7 games of trap hockey eventually turns to a snorefest. :zzz

yeah, it's always a conundrum in the playoffs. Hard-nosed teams who are comfortable with stepping over the bounds of clean hits get massively rewarded for it in the playoffs when most of the questionable hits would be called in the regular season. So this year's Sharks get brutalized because of it (clarify: not the only reason they lost). And thus in response, Doug Wilson will make the team more gritty next year. But then they won't have enough scoring talent, so he'll tinker with adding more scorers. Then they get injured in the playoffs. Rinse and repeat...ah well, hopefully we'll have our day too.

Taking nothing away from the Blues and their shut-down defense. That strategy, otoh, is another great recipe for success in the playoffs. I haven't seen a whole lot of teams who instead of skating in pairs back on defense, they string up and skate single file down the middle of the ice.

Good job, Blues. At least boston has to wait a few more months for their next championship...probably the red sox. no love loss for them Bruins from me.
