Oh sh!t! (Moto Head on crash vid 7/23/11)

this is why I don't ride mulholland/santa monica mountains on weekends. especially at the height of squid season.

so I read the moron has a learner's permit.....
 
and this is another reason why the ROAD IS NOT A RACETRACK.

Looks like that's about 10 minutes up the road from the Rock Store. Great road and home to a metric shitload of crash videos on youtube.

At least the rider was down rather than still up when he hit him. Better situation for the innocent rider.

And if he was a fraction of a second later, a late apex would have had him taken out while he wouldn't have with his line.

Late apexing is good for spotting hazards through a turn, but in this kind of situation it's not going to do you any good and may actually put you in the danger zone for a longer period of time for people who stand their bike up when they realize they can't make the corner.

So every squid has to be there, and...they are notorious for wanting to keep up with someone else, and they don't know how to do that, and the corner scares them, they brake...and Bingo Bango

A friend of mine on his Ducati 916 got taken out by a slide across the road squid.
The Ducati was totaled, and the squid was cut in half.

Its not just the popular roads.
Of all the turns on Mines, I happened to be on a particular section at the same time when a rider on a cruiser coming the other way went wide on a turn to my side's shoulder then veer back to sideswipe me.
It sucks to be a victim. At least the rider in this vid and I came out okay.
 
If you crank up the volume you can hear the rider being hit yell SHIT. And then the moans and cries of pain from one of them. Sad stuff right there.

My insurance just went up :thumbdown. When I called to ask why, the response I got from the under writer was because they are starting to pay out more claims on sport bikes.
