Old guys @ Carnegie. 8/27/16

I have to head out of LibMo and be in Oakdale at 10am for kids sports, which puts me back into town at something like 2 in the afternoon.

On the assumption that riding will still be going on then, I am more than happy to host a later afternoon / early evening BBQ type thing at my place in Livermore on Saturday after riding.

Wait, the MX track is on the left as you enter Carnegie, isn't it? Sure, let's do some BBQ. I'll bring some goodies to grill.

Who's on first?? Yeah, track is on the left when you enter, was just suggesting the far right of the rows of covered parking because I *think* the right is less desirable and should be open.

What can i bring? :)

Guys I have 3 BBQs and plenty of seats/couch space.

Timing in the morning doesn't work, so why not ride and then head back into town and we can kick back later?

oh shit... lunchbox is BBQing?... I'm so down :party Shoot, I might even bring a bike or two :teeth Looking forward to riding with Aaron again and meeting some new BARFers :ride :ride :ride :ride

I'm 55 on Friday... so I'm just squeaking by on the old guy status :afm199

Bums me out when someone is concerned about speed, anyone who is thinking about it should come out. We ain't racin! :)

Sorry to bum you out, certainly not my intent. I can remember many moons ago riding with some guys who were much better than me; I think I was lucky to get home alive and at this point my dirt skills are super rusty and I wouldn't want to REALLY bum you out by showing up 3 or 4 skill levels below you, and limiting your enjoyment.

Having said all that I have a lot of work to do to switch my bike into dirt mode anyway. I was planning to wait until it gets a little wetter to switch it over. at this point I guess I'm a weak maybe.

:afm199

Sorry guys, my life kinda got in the way....I'm back.
As to BBQ: Whatever works, just tell me what to bring.
As to location: I usually go toward the west end of the park (Livermore side) to escape the masses but with no red stickers we will be fine anywhere we go. There are BBQs over toward camping in the day use area near the store. There are also a row of gazebos with BBQs on the west end that are a little more out of the way but also farther from the tracks. (something to consider)
As to pace/speed: We're not out to hurt anyone or show anyone up. All are welcome and besides, I'm running on 5 cylinders right now myself.

This is gonna be cool. :ride

A healthy thumper out runs a 5 banger with blow-by, check engine lamp on and the temp gauge pegged every time. :laughing

Jeff, is that 5/6, or 5/8??

Guys I have 3 BBQs and plenty of seats/couch space.

Problem for me is that sounds *too good*, which means I'm not getting home until later than I'd like.

That's cool, just don't let a concern for holding folks up affect your decision. :)

Mike, I have a wine thing in the evening on Saturday, so I will have to roll out from Carnegie by 1:30 or so. Sorry, man.

Well, seeing as how I worked for Dodge/Jeep for 25 years I tend to default to 8.......but now that I work for Honda and the biggest we have is a 6....I 'spoze it's a 6.
....and as to my/our getting home on time I have arranged for my g/f to hang out with my dog so I can over eat with impunity. :bbq

That's 83%, not bad! I'm gonna be at the lake all day tomorrow, hoping I don't get too cooked, but I'll have a day to somewhat recover.

Do you have to be old?

If I don't have a Drs appt that morning, maybe even if I do and can get it early enough, I'll be there along with another harder and his misses.

I can bring supplies of need be

Of course not. :thumbup
Look for a black Dodge Dakota with a big "Got hills? Ride Carnegie." sticker on the side window. If we're out riding when you get there we will be back shortly.
(at least I will :laughing)

OK, and we are parking near the MX track? I plan to be there when the gates open, since I have to leave early-ish.

Count me in:thumbup Just got the trailer unfolded and setup, and will walk-thru the moto tomorrow...too long since I played in the dirt.

GixxerJeff - can you update the first post with location to meet at and thoughts on BBQ...if some one can bring hamburger buns I will thrown in a pkg of costco burgers and condiments. I'm gonna be earlish though probably not as early as Lunchbox.

Someone needs to photoshop a big barf logo, which we can then print out and put on our dashes so folks know they've found us...I'm driving a dk green/gray Pilot towing the awesome custom barfer-modified HF trailer :twofinger

See you all Saturday am...and indeed beginners welcome, Carnegie is where I learned dirt (on my big vstrom) and I'm happy to take a slow and easy loop or three :teeth

Michael - be great to see you and ride together again at Carnegie...hope you can make it:thumbup

Re BBQ: I'm thinking morning rides then BBQ for lunch and maybe ride some more :teeth. I will bring a grill or charcoal, as well as some burger patties and condiments. Folks should throw in their easyups/umbrellas and also chairs in case we're not in the shade.

MX track is at the east end of the park

Butch, can you join us?

I will do my best to be there at 8:30 and yes, it sounds like we're headed east (left on the main road) to the MX track. Makes sense, that's a good landmark.
We can fill in the details throughout the next day.
I gotta say, I'm pretty exited about this.
