PGA going downhill?

I like to play golf. Not a fan or really watching it whether on TV or in person.

Would be great if they let the crowd hoot and holler. If pitchers can throw a 100mph fastball inside to the batter, one should be able to hit a tiny ball with a crooked stick 300+ yards while drunken fans yell "YOU GOT THIS MICKLETITS!!"

That sounds horrifying. The one thing I do find admirable about golf is the quiet dignity of it. The, "golf clap," is a thing for a reason. A real life Happy Gilmore situation would be awful.

I disagree. Same with tennis. Shit like that makes it boring af to watch on TV and even in person. Fucking get the crowd into it. Why should tennis and golf be excluded? Might as well throw bowling into that mix to. I'm sure Dick Weber wouldn't mind it from time to time.

LET'S MAKE SOME NOISE!!! :laughing

LOL, like I said, dignity and an elevated sense of composure is what those sports have going for them.

This feels like PC language for 'these are rich people sports and shouting at sports is for the poors'

Calling for noise is an indicator of not understanding the difficulty. A starting pitcher throws X pitches and approx ~40%(?) are strikes?

The difference in a golf tournament is less than 1% over ~260 strokes? The margin for error is critically different.

Pitchers aren't competitive in the pga, golfers aren't competitive in the MLB, basketball players aren't competitive in the pga, 1 has performed in the MLB. No football players are in the pga, 1 was in MLB. They are different. Soccer players don't matter. :)

I'm not saying golf is a contact sport. And I'm not comparing it. I enjoy it in and of itself. And it's really really hard.

A more appropriate baseball analogy would be the batter. Hitting a baseball is up there with the highest level of difficulty. Much respect.

Sports are about the game, not the fans. Fans are only for entertainment, jersey sales, clothing endorsements, making rich people richer.

So doing things for the benefit of the fans does nothing for the actual game, other than making someone else money.

Yes, those wealthy individuals all seem very elegant as they savor the unique perfume of their flatulent derrieres. :thumbup

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Sounds about right, LOL. Like I said, I don't watch the sports at all.

(ok, maybe certain Women's Tennis Players by accident on the channels :teeth)

I had respect for Monahan. When it came to more simple issues, he has handled himself well. This may not be one of the proud moments for him. To find himself out of options is a little bit scary. As if he was out maneuvered.

Still looking at the details and considering what this is going to lead to. But, I don't think it's going to benefit the PGA. And that is his job. There were other ways to get to a congenial relationship, I believe. It will be interesting to see how the investors, sponsors, and governments deal with this.

1 thing that may happen is that LIV will fall into obscurity along with the rest of the minor leagues. If that was his goal, then I can see the merger. The issue is that the minor leagues have significantly less dollars. LIV has significantly more dollars.

Oh, globalization.... I have always tended away from it while accepting that it is inevitable. I can't wait to see how the money list is maintained.

Am I the only cynic who sees all this as one group of people trying to buy class, clout, prestige or whatever you want to call it from another group of people who don't have any to sell. :laughing sorry I just hate golf. /ducks.
