PGA going downhill?

Lol wonder how many other locations will do the same? Puzzling to see, watch these oil tycoons reboot the xfl, rehire all the coaches and players from NFL to that league and give them a immediate 1.5x salary bump. Then they do this to NBA, MLB etc, I mean they are the main holders of what everyone uses/needs - oil.

Awesome security...dude is standing right on the damn green and it took literally forever for the cop to walk out and haul his ass off.

Soemsports you can fuck with. Others, not so much.

I don't think that's in the cards.

This is a relatively small group so the costs aren't enormous, plus they're playing at established courses, not in custom built stadiums which woul dup the costs.

I think they studied the different sports and chose golf after a fairly exhaustive analysis.

The owners aren't usually the ones footing the bill for the custom built stadiums, the cities do. Which is one of the big gripes about them.

That is true, but that takes years of effort and trust from the region that the team will be around to fill it (unless it's the Raiders) for years afterwards.

Rory and Tiger have come out and said that any future negotiations with LIV has to start with Greg Norman's removal...

:laughing

I care more about wins and losses and losses :facepalm than where they play, and Vegas seems to offer a bit more than Oakland. "Vaders Roomba" is nicer than anything they woulda built here. :dunno

Welp, LIV got a major. Not really, but that is the story.

Mainly venting: Golf, in general, is being taken up by the main stream more and more. It is sad to watch. The articles are being written by less knowledgeable people. The click bait and design of pieces is targeting the main stream, and it shows. It's inevitable, but still sad to witness. I got into golf when I did, and that was the basis of my experience. New people are getting in and this is the basis of their experience.

Good for Brooks. Was a solid tournament.

Golf has been main stream forever. Golfers have regularly made the list for highest paid athletes for decades. You don't get money like that without being main stream.

Quality of articles and media going down would indicate the opposite of going main stream to me. Less interest in golf leads to less money for golf content, leads to the people making that content being less specialized/dedicated to Golf specifically, leads to more mistakes and lower quality.

Weird take.

Your post captured the new generation of fans. Maybe a little more than you realize. As you see golf now, that's how it has "always been". It hasn't been. Things have changed, and what separated golf has diminished. It's a bummer. There's a lot of good that has come. And a lot of change.

:laughing I'm not trying to have a beer with the guy. When he's on, he can hit any shot. You'll be cheering for him if he makes the Ryder cup!

Not likely. The guy has the attitude and personality of a petulant 14-year-old kid. All the talent in the world doesn't matter when you carry yourself through life like a stuck up prick.

I haven't met the guy. I can't speak to his personality. But he hits the ball well.

I'm not a new generation of fans. I might very occasionally play if someone invites me. I have no interest in watching or following the sport.

The language you used just doesn't make sense to me. Is the sport changing? Sure, I would buy that, absolutely.

But you said that it's being taken up by the main stream more and more. That's what doesn't make sense to me. Golf is not a niche sport. It's very, very mainstream.

I recognize what your saying. How your responding is an indication that you're not really understanding what I'm conveying. Don't worry. It's just some venting from someone who loves golf. Bout to tee off with my weekly men's club. And reflect on Brooks 5th major.... :)

It's not the sport that is changing, it is the amount of information that the masses want to know about said sport.

People only want the entertainment factor, not the nuances. The masses want short spicy provoking articles. Not to really know/understand the sport.

It's like the guy yelling bababouy after a player hits a drive. They aren't interested in the sport, just wants to get his voice on air.
