PGE our friendly Bay Area Utility

It is a free country. If I was unhappy with Thelma as some of you appear, I’d quit using them. They only exist because of you.
I like the service I’m getting from PG&E.
BARF really needs to add an “eye roll” to the “like” emojis.

We looked into it and determined that the "eye roll" royalty payments BARF would have to make would be far excessive.

Thanks to PGE my home in central Santa Rosa now costs 9 grand/year to insure instead of 2.

That's quite some comment on their resiliency
Believe your remark has in common; The butterfly Effect
In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state.
This idea was popularized by a quote in the movie "Havana" where Robert Redford states, "a butterfly can flutter its wings over a flower in China and cause a hurricane in the Caribbean".

The Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) fire, known as the Camp Fire, was ignited by a broken 'C-hook' on a transmission tower. This hook, approximately 3 inches wide and 1 inch in diameter, had worn down to a few millimeters of metal, leading to its failure. When it broke, the energized power line struck the tower, creating an electric arc that ignited the dry vegetation below.

Personally, I think that any person signing up to work for CPUC, especially in the upper management levels should sign a binding document that prevents them from ever working for or getting paid by PG&E or any of it's subsidieries.

Too many of them leave CPUC and go take a cushy job with PG&E, obviously for services (already) rendered.

If they don't want to sign, they don't have to work for CPUC.

So much for solar at my rental; roof is 15+ years old.

We'll look at it again (if I'm alive) when the roof needs replacing.

Now looking at Solar for the rental my daughter lives in.

They only us 4000 kwhr/year so up front cost shouldn't be too prohibitibe.

Friend got a quote for a system for his 7000 kwhr/year use and it was about $30k including battery with almost $10k in "going away soon" Fed Tax Credits so if we want tax credits we have to do it this year.

We are very happy with our system we got two years ago.

5 year payback but PGE wants to make that a 4 year payback it seems.

What do you mean "going away soon"? Shouldn't there be something like 8 more years of 30% federal solar tax credits?

Many people don't like buying stuff made in China, yet every one of us has stuff made in China. If only we could reconcile the conflict...

Some of the best stuff is made in China.

Also, some of the worst stuff is made in China.

  • The ITC was set to remain at 30% through 2032, then gradually decrease. However, there's a proposal in the House of Representatives that could end the residential solar tax credit by the end of 2025.

Yep.

Careful to not step fully into political posts, this is still in the KS.
Important if one is considering solar that 2025 might very well be the last year of tax credits for a while.

My friend just decided he wanted two Tesla Powewalls for his new setup to ensure that he keeps most of his valuable electricity generated vs getting pennies on the dollar from PGE.

Is he getting Tesla Solar also?
