Not ideal, but no harm.

I'd put the better tires on the front of your FWD car though.

Since this one is actually an AWD, front-biased car, the point is, whether I’m going to prepare to go to the snow In November or actually all the way to January .

But, it already has two super summer Contis at the back, which I put 6 months ago, because the rears were worn.

In the meantime the other month, I also found out that the fronts, (which are A/S) have a severe camber-alignment wear.. and now also have to go.

So the choices are whether to buy another 2 summers and say “fk it Tahoe, if I go with this car, I’m changing four tires again”,
Or, buy 2 all seasons , irregardless of whether I’m going to Tahoe, at least I’m prepared with 1/2 of the cost

Seems rational enough for me.

So, I'm a car guy... and I have no idea what any of this means.:dunno
I'll give you my "old car guy" advice, tho.
If you're planning to keep the car long enough to wear out another set of tires, go put a set of Michelins on it. They cost more up front, but they last longer. So if you do the math, and I have, they're actually less expensive. And they always hold a balance and they handle great. :2cents

I would not run summer or all season tires for winter driving, they make snow tires for a reason. So, so much better, it's not even comparable.

dammit :)

and I have no idea what any of this means
just deciding whether to buy two summer tires to complement the current rear ones ($202 each) or two A/Season + possibly cheaper.

go put a set of Michelins on it

BTW this is too wide of a statement. I just took off "a set of Michelins", these ones , and they had lasted only... 12k miles.

They're also the ones that made me slide in Tahoe... :laughing it's fine, I dealt with it. :cool

or all season tires for winter driving
what I Said above, "lol" ... :wow 🎉

Anyone heard anything about Cosmo tires? Mucho Macho kinda thing?!?!

000---000

guy in the watch thread is showing off he bought a ... checks notes, $800 metal bracelet for his wristwatch, and I'm here thinking about saving on tires.
I've seen mucho macho tires once lol. Right up there with LingLong :laughing

the Dunlop Q5Ses on my Z400 are down to the wear bars after 1500 miles but that includes 5 trackdaze. The Kumho senses on my Taco are 8 years old.
I see new tires in my future.

And film it.

And it’s not a burnout if the tire doesn’t pop.

Are two sets of wheels and two sets of tires too difficult to manage? Before All Season tires, in the North we usually had two sets of wheels and tires. That reduced the cost and judgement on when to change tires. Switching the wheels was a bit of effort. Will All Seasons get you thru Chain Control?

Yeaaah.. two sets of wheels and tires are not too easy to achieve for me and many other people.
But it's a very good thought which I should keep remembering(because I also had it sometimes)

I don't know if they check the type of tires on AWD cars...

Good morning! Why I am awake so early on a Saturday is a life mystery.

Good morning. My big orange cat has been acting weird lately. He brought a friend home and I know he wants to keep him/ her. I know I’ve seen this cat in a lost cat post but I can’t find it.

they do check the types of tires on 4x4 and AWD. and you need to check the advisory - depending on conditions, they let you through with all season tires. if conditions are bad enough, they’ll still require chains on those vehicles.
