Post / Chat whores post here (2026)

I was friends with Lou IRL. I would meet him up at Murphys for coffee. I can't drive past Copperopolis without having a thought for him. He became a difficult dude but I'm glad he had barf until he didn't.

Martin, at times you are like a dog with a bone. Even when asked politely, one who asks for you to release that bone often receives more barks and sometimes a growl. I have noticed this when you participate in threads where you lack any expertise. From electric vehicles to women's issues, you are never afraid to voice your opinion. Often if it is pointed out that your opinion isn't shared by those who are indeed experts, you dig in and next thing that happens is that the potential of sharing information becomes a thread where you star as the defender of an opinion based on no direct personal experience.

As a suggestion, perhaps try listening over preaching, you may be better received.

Like you, my socializing mostly exists here, on this forum and I cherish every member of this community ,even those who may not cherish me.

I cherish you. Also I am really sorry about Joy.. That doesn't sound fun.

Just a few last comments on this.

1. The whole brouhaha was started when “someone” said I was minimizing peoples problems and telling them what to do. I did not minimize anyone’s problems. And I didn’t tell anyone what to do. I made suggestions which people can take. Or not. And several times I asked for an explanation re how I minimized anyone and got no response. In my mind, the lack of a response was telling.

2. I am an old man now. I live by myself as my wife died a few years ago. I have been on BARF for approximately 20 years and BARF has become one of the primary ways for me to socialize. Especially since i suffered a stroke a few years ago. To have been besmirched by that comment hurt. To then have my question ignored hurt more.
That is why I said what I said.

And after I thought about it more, I realized that I have had mental health “issues” in my life. That is why I posted about my father. And the things I posted earlier were exactly what saved me.

I now find that my reputation here has been painted with the wrong brush and I find that disappointing.

I want to continue posting here as it’s good therapy. But I will stay clear of threads where misinterpretation of my words is likely. And I hope that my contributions will continue to be appreciated.
1) You were the second person to respond in that thread, and you offered an empty platitude about doing something one likes as if it's a magic panacea, and then unequivocally stated that you do not, nor have you ever suffered from any mental health issues.
You received immediate pushback on your perceived arrogance and misplaced credentials and you simply ignored it. Four different people gave you the exact same message and you basically told them to fuck off. "I did not minimize anyone's problems" except when people tell you that's exactly what you did YOU TOLD THEM THEY WERE WRONG instead of some internal realization that maybe it doesn't matter what your fist feels, it matters how someone's face feels.

2) Back stories do not matter in this context. However, we all know that BARF is your primary socialization medium. It's very obvious. And any reputation you have here is yours to own.

Come on the rally next weekend and put faces to names and get to actually know people. :thumbup

Which rally is next weekend?

Well, I certainly wasn’t being arrogant. And I never got an explanation on how I minimized anyone. Which I don’t believe I did.

I would enjoy attending the rally. But unfortunately my health prevents that.

I'm pretty sure it was pointed out multiple times how your words were not helpful. And yet, even now after all of this, you don't get it and you can't see it. Look inside yourself my brother.

  • Unwarranted Superiority: Believing—and acting as though—one is inherently better, smarter, or more important than everyone else.
  • Rudeness and Dismissiveness: Showing contempt, talking down to others, or aggressively disregarding the opinions of peers.
  • Lack of Humility: An inability to admit fault or accept constructive feedback.

IT FEELS SO GOOD WHEN YOU STOP!

irl would we act this way?
I think not
Not familiar with the Irish temper? It's a known issue. IRL my people are quick to take it out back and fight on the lawn... then get drunk together. :laughing

The worst thing to say to someone in crisis is "just get over it."
When someone offers over-simplified solutions like "do something you enjoy" or "reflect on the positive things" it minimizes a very complex issue and is the equivalent of saying "hey, it's no big deal... just get over it." I mean you'd have to be a complete idiot to not just "do something you enjoy", right? Sometimes the best thing to say is "I don’t know"... or just nothing at all.

well, That was beautiful,

ride 🚲 gloomy, gray san francisco, it's beautiful,

no one on Market street, windswept, stores closes, but it's beautiful

there are no ordinary bikes any more, just me and some other rando, 2 out of 10 are "manual" bikes -- everything else is electric -- but it's beautiful

wind is bad, but it's okay I'm just gonna draft some squid with a rental or a tern/rad cargo bike, it's beautiful to do so,

you see the bus, it's ALL full of teenagers, nobody else there, but there's ten of them teens and they are not paying (it's the law) and they have skateboards, it's beautiful,

got home, maybe overstretched my hamstring exactly on the last corner, pushing the pedal too hard, but should be okay, IDGAF, here's my beautiful mooshine local brewed craft beer. 🍻
