I feel sorry for the dog. Whereas you could do some stuff like giving her attention or workin on behavior issues with her, she doesn't have a choice. She was stuck with a shitty owner. She had no choice in that. Now she has another one and still has no choice. All of her behavior is likely due to being neglected. And if you think you aren't doing that, you are lying to yourself. You can fix this issue, but choose not to. The dog has no choice in the matter.I'm still caring for this terror, my brother's dog. I can't walk her because just trying to put the leash/harness on her is a chore because she won't stay still and biting at my hands. And even if I can, she wants to chase other dogs and people and bark so loudly at them.
It's to the point, when I see her food and water bowls are empty, I have to put her outside and close the sliding door. Because if I don't, while I'm trying to put the bowls down, she'll be jumping all over me and I can't put the bowls down without spilling. She's not a big dog but she's big enough that if she pushes me, her food and water ends up on the floor. It's so annoying like... I'm trying to help you and you're preventing me from doing exactly that. Also, I had to put the trash can on top of one of the counters because she has and will knock the trash can down and rummage through it making a huge mess. I'm sure there are reasons or something I could do differently but this is not my dog and I am not a dog owner.
Sorry for venting on that. I am just so tired of this dog. It's a daily thing I have to deal with. I don't treat her badly but it's very hard to even look at the dog because all I see and think is my brother in jail and left me with this burden.
I understand the dog doesn't have a choice in this situation. I appreciate you pointing it out because I've been very honest about everything and I know that and it sucks talking about it as much as it sucks thinking about it and dealing with it.I feel sorry for the dog. even though my first client is at 8 and I'll do it from home and then go into the office to put it in out medical records.
I enjoy working from home and I am going to ask Troy to help me connect my work computer to my home computer. I know it will work but it is beyond my technological capacities.
Okay, here's a question which may not be fair because you like dogs way more than I do. What would you do in this scenario? Answer 3 is what I'm looking into. This dog deserves better than someone who doesn't give a shit about her and would be much better off with someone who will care and try."I'm doing the bare minimum for the dog.". This is all that needs to be said dude. The rest is just an excuse for you neglecting the dog. The way I see it you have three choices:
1. Continue to do the care minimum for dog, which will just make her behavior worse. This sucks.
2. Train the dog or at least give it some love. The dog is not your brother, get over that association. You lust after his ex, but if she was yours would you treat her like you do this poor dog? Same situation right? This approach will lead to a better dog, a better experience, and will give me a little respect for you, which right now is lacking.
3. Give the dog to someone who cares. When your brother gets out, where is he gonna go? The dog is likely better off with a chance somewhere else. This option also kind of sucks.
