Purchased my first bottle of Scotch! (extreme whisky thread)

Remember my thread last week about BevMo and them selling A'Bunadh (Aberlour's cask-strength gorgeous brain-melting malt)?

Is it wrong to be half-way through it already? :teeth

YUM!

So when is there going to be a BARF scotch party where everyone can bring their favorite make and we all share and comment?

I thought someone had a scotch party last year, no?

If not, I think it's time!
I'm in!

If we actually buy a house any time soon, I'll host :teeth

You can bring your own sodding Scotch tho, I'll be broke :laughing

I guess the FLAVOR in scotch comes from the preserved bodies of MURDERED people called BOG MUMMIES. (that's when the scotch experts say something like: "Taste that PEAT". THEY REALLY MEAN PETE!!)

So, that's pretty FKN ROCKING!! But, until they start selling the stuff in six packs of tall cans, I'll continue with the regularly scheduled BUDGET PARTYING!!!

Lindow Pete!

I used to play around there, there was a pond I used to sail toy boats on with me gran.

Here's a pic of PETE!

They've got him in a climate controlled box in the British Museum now.

YUM!

I was in Scotland a couple of months ago, went to the Abelour distillery, and picked up a bottle of the A'Bunadh (and another 16-year old) because they assured me "you won't find this in America."

Not only does BevMo have it, its WAY CHEAPER than the stuff I bought in Scotland and hauled back to the U.S.

I would say that BevMo has about 70% or more of the Scotchs that I tried while in Scotland. Moral of story -- check to see what you can get locally BEFORE buying overseas. I don't know how many times I've been burned by this tpye of thing...

in any discussion of scotch it's almost a requirement that we discuss favorite cigars also.

lately i've been enjoying a Punch double maduro with my single malt.

went to a good quality liquor store out here in MX last night to buy some Cubans and some scotch, they had good cigars of course, Montes and Cohibas, but no bloody scotch, No mcallan, no laphroaig, nothing :( it was cubans and Pacificos again, not so bad i guess, I need some damn smugglers!

edit: BTW, Dominican Montecristo's taste way better!

Hey, I'll bring you a Punch Double Maduro on Sunday and you can see if he's right. ;)

And Jake, I haven't had a drink of alcohol in over twelve years. :hand

So yeah, maybe it's time. :|

The Glenfiddich Solera Reserve 15 is really nice scotch.

Smoooooooooth

Oh yeah, and I heard that somebody REEEEALY wants this thread to stay alive, so I'm just doing my part, Sir. :laughing

Has anyone tried the Lagavulin 15 year Distiller's Edition?

I'm wondering how the taste compares to the 16 or 18 y/o.
(I have the 16 y/o of anyone has the 15 y/o Distillers Ed.)
