Question regarding weaving to warm your tires

I was following a group of people on liter sport bikes on the way to Uvas, and all 8 or so of them were doing this weaving nonsense on the straight bit of road in front of IBM. Got to the 1 mile twisty uphill bit, and they started going so slow they were holding up a 90s Corolla. I don't think they needed all that "heat" in the first place.

Off topic a bit:
I like that little road. I definitely get heat into the tires heading West (speed), but the uphill section is really tight and not conducive to big lean angles, so it doesn't matter much. The downhill to Uvas is faster, but has a nasty bump that I saw throw someone. Going East, that bump is not a problem.

Back to your regularly scheduled swerving. :)
