Funny thing is, I was tested way back in high school and scored 132. Now I know for a fact that I've burned up ALLOT of brain cells since then, so ya... this test is bogus.

OR

It could imply that the absolute number of brain cells is not indicative of ability, but rather it's the number of (or quality of) connections between the individual cells that matters.

That may throw off your pattern a bit. If that extra 7 wasn't in the picture, the pattern would seem fairly simple.

Also interesting, but if I remember correctly, an IQ test shouldn't need any outside knowledge. The tester should be able to discern the correct answer simply from the information provided.

Another way to look at it is two patterns laid out onto one line.

So we have:

Pattern 1 is descending by 1 each set, and goes +7, -7.

Pattern 2 is also descending by 1 each set, and goes +3

Pattern 1:

1,8,1
0,7,0
-1,6,-1
-2,5,-2
-3,4,-3
-4,3,-4
etc

Pattern 2:
4, 7
3, 6
2, 5
1, 4
0, 3
-1, 2
-2, 1
etc

If we combine the two we get:

1, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0, 7, 0, 3, 6, -1, 6, -1, 2, 5, -2, 5, -2, 1, 4, -3, 4, -3, 0, 3, -4, 3, -4, -1, 2, etc..

Either way, it seems like a lot of the possibilities include 3 as an answer.

I saw the groups of 3, but didn't think to just add them. gave up on that idea and went HEY 1 8 1 is a palindrome and so is 7 0 7 0 (7)

18/133 -- I was stumped by the last one too, as well as some others... Guessed well...

And they DID promise the answers afterwards, didn't they??




EDIT - I was able to go back and retake the test, changing my iffy answers till I got a 20/140. (Two still don't make any logical sense to me, lol.)

15 questions give ya 20 points; so when I changed only one answer, it'd drop to 18/133.
