RC51 rebuild

Since you have the motor out of the frame. You might want to take some metal off the flywheel. I read on Speedzilla in the RC51 forum that a member in Modesto had done just that with great success.

Everything is back together, well the necessary parts at least. My injectors are spraying fuel, ECM isnt giving me any FI errors, and there is spark. My starter however is turning the engine over a lot slower than it used to. The engine hiccuped a few times trying to start, but its just not turning over fast enough. I don't have a master link for my chain right now or else I'd just roll it down the street.

When I first turned it over and realized it used to spin faster, I immediately thought tight crank bearings. I'm also using a pretty ghetto starting circuit; the bike battery is powering the bike, I cant find my starter cable so I hooked up my truck battery to the starter post via jumpers, which may also be culprit. Before I pulled out the truck battery, I used the bike battery and it turned over at the same speed, so Im thinking trying a better set of jumpers may help. Yes both batteries are charged, and are known to be in good condition. Im going to use my friends battery and jumpers, and see if anything changes, or else I might go buy a master link for my chain and go for a ride down hill. (Remind me to put my front brake system back on :p)

Ohhh I am smart guy sometime....

I took my friends CBR starter cable, hooked it to the post, clamped it direct to the truck battery, and use the jumper for ground. She fired right up. Im shaking...

Oil pressure light isnt turning off, but oil disappears from the sight glass, so it is pumping. Wondering if I have sealant material or something blocking an oil port, that would suck.

almost a year to the day since your last post... this thread is a good read for RC owners! so what was the conclusion all said and done? runs better than the day it rolled out of the factory?

Rebuilt and ran, wasn't happy, tore it back down and still waiting to have the money for the rest I want to do to it.

Bike was indicating low oil pressure, plus there were parts I wanted to replace but couldn't afford. So now ill be getting pistons, fresh cylinder bores, valves, springs, clutch plates. I still haven't found anything conclusive about the lack of oil pressure, so I'm just doing it over. Really sucks that I havent been able to ride the bike since like august 2010.
