Rent Dropping

maybe America needs some kind of socialized medical system!

No. What America needs is the ability to write off ALL medical bills/ payments on your taxes.

As a company, we cannot "give" an employee the funds for their deductible without a tax consequence. What happened year 1 of Obama care and each year thereafter is our employees don't have the money for the deductible and we can't "gift" it to them with an increased cost.

These are our decades long people we care about. The ACA helps no one. Literally, no one who cares about their health care.

This does absolutely nothing for the majority of households that make like 40k per year.

The deductibles are a huge problem. Outside of a major incident, insurance right now is practically useless because of how much high deductibles are.

Still helps those with pre existing conditions. Shy from that and I agree with you.

Isn't the standard tax deduction around $6300. So even if you itemize your sum total of deductions must add up to more than that before it matters.
Still leaving you possibly with a $6300 in bills per year for anyone chronically ill.

Being able to write off all medical bills isn't going to help much for the person who just doesn't have money to pay those bills. Even if they borrowed to pay medical bills they're likely already in a low tax bracket so the refund on those deductibles will be a small percentage of the bill paid since the taxes paid were low to start.

Seems like a deliberate attempt/desire to consolidate the "self-employed" marketplace...

Good point

Exactly

imo
our "Healthcare" problem somehow turned into an "insurance problem" which, to me, is due to our corporate run government run amok

But you left out the subliminal socialism/communism angle.

But it does do something for those who make more than $40K. For those who make less than $40K, we'll need different programs.

Agree that the bill has some very good elements to it. The tax grab from the federal government is something that's always an expense on the average citizen.

Wonder which group needs more immediate help.

Pay your own medical bills with the money you save by not having Obamacare.

Bingo. Like my vet bill.

The fact that my pet insurance cost $33/ month and surgeries are in the $1500-$2K range is telling. Vets are no joke in terms of education and competence.

Then you pay the "suckers" price to see a doctor: you don't have bargaining ability of the insurance company to negotiate a reasonable rate for service. Never mind if you get in an emergency situation, then you REALLY pay 1000s on the dollar for services.

Health insurance doesn't really work like car insurance.

An orthopedic surgeon may make 5-800 dollars on a joint replacement surgery. The rest of the fee is the hospital charging you.

I wish I was a dog when the bill comes...and my dog was paying my bill.
