I still don't understand why people would get so worked up over something that meant nothing. I have seen so many douchebags with retarded posts with high rep...

This is probably for the best. Plus, it was slightly annoying seeing attractive females get 11 green squares after only being around for a month or less. Leghumping for the lose.
 
I posted more because of the rep system. I liked the feedback whether positive or negative.

I also interacted more with BARFers because of it(these are BARFers I didn't know).

Why not just hide the green/red squares (don't display them so prominently) in the threads but make the rep scores/comments available only in the control panel.

Rep was a bad indication of a user's "useful" contribution but it still made me read BARF more and post more. Isn't that a sign the forum is doing things right?

It's a "fun" feature. I think it helped add to the sense of community and added value. Hopefully the new system works as well.

In our opinion, the amount of points any given user has now does not remotely reflect on their actual contributions to this forum. The old mojo plugin is absolutely ancient and cannot be realistically adapted to work safely on this or future versions of vbulletin--it would be akin to trying to mount carburetors on a 2008 sportbike. Trying to implement the old plugin could seriously break the current forum software and/or hinder our ability to keep upgrading as updates are released. We don't ever want to paint ourselves into another corner and have to go several years without upgrading.

We have discussed finding a similar, newer vbulletin plugin to somehow rate posts and posters, but haven't found anything yet. In the mean time, we have decided to get rid of the reputation system and go with nothing for now.

Mods: it would be interesting to me to see if total postings go down now that the rep system has been removed b/c the postwhores maybe have one less reason to post. It wouldn't be a scientific study, but interesting nonetheless.

Not gonna happen, we post whether there is a post count or not rep or not. A postwhore does not stop unless removed. :teeth

was just wondering anyone else lost their rep points in the user Cp ? when i go there i cant see any of my reps...anyone knows what happend?
