Glad it's gone, though it was nice to get or give quick feedback on a post.
Postwhores tend to break any system designed for the baseline. The leghump factor makes it even worse.
Maybe the answer lies in a sort of hybrid, where individual posts can get +1 / -1 ratings, but one person can only affect another's overall rep in a limited way. If Alice gives Bob +1 rep on four posts, but -1 on the fifth, Bob gets 4/5 of a point from Alice. In other words, a person can only give (or take) one point to/from another.
Or something like that. Even just throwing the whole thing out forever is fine by me. But please keep the post counts hidden. The whoring is bad enough as it is.

Rep doesn't work due to human psychology. We already have a pack mentality and it just promotes that further. Clicks promote their own and knock down commonly labled "enemies." Those who are not part of any click are labled outcasts and get it from both sides. Most of this isn't even done conciously.
