Rounda get beat

She did beat everyone that came before her in 30sec. Seems her ufc weight class is full of pussy footing compared to the Olympics.

Seems you dont watch UFC much and understand how they stack fights when they want a fresh/sell-able face to rise. It's obvious Rounda doesn't understand this either by how arrogantly she stepped in the ring against a fighter w/ real skill, capability, and a true fighting mindset compared to her.
Anyway, I just read Jon Jones returned... Maybe some good fights will be back on the cards...

Holly has won me over and I will be following her closely.
Been a fun thread.

Article discusses why the sudden hate on Rousey:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2590728-the-question-why-did-the-world-turn-on-ronda-rousey

Good point. If you want to wear the TWELVE POUNDS OF GOLD you gotta WALK THAT AISLE. Woooo!

For me, there's no "sudden hate". Hate is an entirely too strong word for how I feel, tho. She's just obnoxious and intolerable. I don't hate her, I just wish she'd go away so the true elite fighters can get some better recognition.

But just like I said, it's ok to get beat, it's ok to be a blow hard, but if you do it, you gotta keep at it. That is why I get a kick out of Chael and can't stand Ronda.

Besides, Chael (usually) has something interesting to say, even if it's crazy, where as Ronda comes off like a dim wit, classless trailer park queen and never knows when to shut it off. I don't think she can.

Srsly, if Mayweather has more class than you, you have a problem and should seek help.

Also, I take exception with the last line of the article:

who has done so much for the sport you love

Wrong. UFC/Dana White used her to expand the UFC viewership. Good business move on their part. Bad for a long time fan like me. Yes, it's nice that it's much easier to find fights on TV now, but UFC cards are no longer special. They used to be an event. You used to know everyone in the whole organization. Used to be a reason to get together with buddies. Now, you (I) just DVR the free cards and FFW thru the crap in hopes of seeing a decent fight. More often than not, I do a hell of a lot of FFW. I used to buy every single PPV and make it a reason to have a get together. I very rarely buy cards now and more often than not, am disappointed. Gotta be a really damn good card for me to pay and there's no way I'm putting down money when Ronda is on the card.

It's changed and in my opinion, not for the better. Ronda has been a tool in helping the UFC expand, but I don't think she's done jack diddly shit for the sport.

^ do you think "the ultamate fighter" reality show has led to the dilution of the cards?

I have mixed feelings of TUF. I probably watched the first six or so seasons then kinda lost interest. Have watched a few here and there since, tho now they have international TUF shows as well.

TUF has led to some great fights and a few champions, but there's also a lot of "who the hell is this guy?" going on cuz someone got in thru some TUF show or another. A LOT of guys end up fighting once or twice in the UFC and never end up going anywhere. Seems more often than not.

So, in short, I suppose the answer is yes. But I don't think the show has been all bad either.

It's almost like UFC needs a "minor league" and the big show. I know the regional and smaller shows are supposed to be the "minor leagues", but if that's the case, the UFC has entirely too many people employed right now.

Big names can have bad fights and vice versa, but I do think it has been watered down. I still enjoy watching, but it's just harder to get excited about it.

I listened to her on Rogans podcast for 3 hrs and never felt that way.

Huh, yeah. I guess some people just stroke others that way. She always seemed likable to me. :dunno I didn't like that she didn't touch gloves, that was bullshit, but she never struck me as one of these Terrell Owens/Fflod Mayweather human garbage type personalities.

Well, I have a hard time listening to Roid Rage Rogan, too. He's got his points, he's an entertainer, etc, but dude says some off the wall shit and is paid to promote. I get that that is his job, but he can be pretty obnoxious, too. :twofinger

No.

TUF has been around for a long time before the 'dilution' of cards.

UFC holds cards 3-4 times a month now between Fox Sports 1 and Fight Pass as opposed to just 1, maybe 2. That's why cards aren't as stacked as before. There's a card every Saturday this month. 1 PPV, 2 free Fox Sports 1 cards, and 1 Fight Pass exclusive card.

I personally, don't care if cards aren't as stacked as before. I watch damn near every event and every event has some surprising awesome fights. I like being able to watch an event every 1-2 weeks instead of having to wait a month or more between events.

One of my favorite cards of recent was one of the Australia cards that was broadcast solely on the Fight Pass streaming service. I think it was Rockhold vs Bisping. It wasn't a stacked card. It had a lot of up and coming fighters, old dogs, and guys that don't even have wikipedia pages but it was 100% all finishes from the first prelim fight to the main event. Knock outs and submissions everywhere. Most fights didn't even make it out of the first or second round. That card kicked all kinds of ass even without star power.

The Ronda effect is both good and bad to me. It brings lots of eyes and money to the sport, which is good to increase it's popularity. Reports are saying 193 did the most PPV buys behind UFC 100 with Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir. But the droves of sudden UFC/mma 'fans' can be nauseating. My facebook feed is STILL full of people posting videos and links about Rousey/Holm. All of the sudden everyone is a professional armchair cornerman.

Robbie Lawler vs Carlos Condit at UFC 195 has potential to be fight of the year. I don't expect to see a single post on my facebook feed about that fight coming up and 75% of casual fans that are UFC fans now because of Ronda probably have no idea who Robbie Lawler or Condit even are. Half the posters in this thread never even venture into the UFC/mma thread we have on here on BARF but Rousey is current pop culture so that's how it is.

Oh well, just hoping the increase of popularity will trickle down to the fighters in some way although knowing Dana White I'm not holding my breath on that.

Rogan is the Howard Stern of MMA.

Someone should have told her that the UFC isn't the pussy footing olympics....
It's probably better she leave the sport for good before sustaining a life altering injury in that ring. People are in there trying to kill you and she never treated it with the respect that understanding commands nor had the mentality to contend in such an environment.

Please stop posting. You really don't know wtf you are talking about. No respect? Come on man get real. If you had to live in her shoes for one day I bet you would sing a different tune.

Keep in mind that he also thinks he could take her in a fight. I would pay good money to see that :laughing

None of us will ever meet him, unfortunately. Anyone who believes (or claims to believe) that he is the smartest guy on the site, toughest guy on the site, fastest rider on the site, etc. is not someone who will ever come out to a meet. He'll continue to lob weak bombs from mommy's basement during breaks in his rigorous "day trading" schedule. :thumbdown

Same pattern over and over.
Comes in with bunch of spicy posts, gets owned, resorts to gifs.

Sad.

True, but there are a multitude of TUF shows now. I agree that there are still a lot of awesome fights, and I watch the large majority of them, but between that and everything else I got going on, it's much harder to keep up on everything and everyone.

Rogan is the Howard Stern of MMA.

Good way of putting it. Both annoying and hard to listen to. :laughing
